Not that I think this is probably a thread I want to wade into, it does get me to thinkin'.

I wonder just how much of our tax money actually goes to foreign aid, or to purchase favor/affect a result in countries, and what we actually get in return - other than the writeoff of debt from countries who eternally just don't have the money to pay us back.

This might be one of those prime areas that should be reviewed when we start talking about balancing the budget, lowering taxes, etc.
