On the course!
People were standing in that bunker all day long, for Christ's sake!

NOW, they want to say it was a regular bunker, and not a waste bunker???????

That would be total BS if he gets the boot.

Just imagine if he made the putt.
People would have flocked for the exits thinking it was over.

Books just got killed in "live betting". For 5 minutes they had a three man playoff. Then dropped to two man.

Sucked if you took Dustin in playoff after he missed the put on 18. Then 10 minutes later he gets two stroke penalty:scared

Do you know how times a golfer probably did that over the 4 days and did not get a penalty for it.

I am sure he was not the first to do it with that many type bunkers on the course.

He was just the first to get caught because of the situation.

True.......but the fact that it "never entered his mind" that he was in a bunker is a bit troubling. All he had to do was ask a rules official.

And if there is any doubt at all DO NOT GROUND YOUR CLUB.

But with that said.....gimmie a break:nono:

They said it was the number one rule on the list they posted and went over with the players.

If I was him, I would fire my caddie immediately.
That is what you pay a caddie for. To watch out for that chit.

Instead he was behind the crowd blocking a sliver of light that was on the ball.

Can you translate for the non-golfers in the house?

Total BS, but it was covered in the rules, which he didn't look at. Hard me to believe they would call that a bunker with people standing in it all day, and yes no rake anywhere near that. I guess I am going to pick on DJ, bottom line don't hit there in the first place....easier said than done for almost everyone seeking their first major, but he shit himself in the final round of the US Open too. I couldn't imagine what would have happened with the crowd had he made the putt on 18 for what he thought would have be a win.

Yep, he knew it as soon as he grounded the club. Then he realized it might be a bunker.

I agree, the caddie should be fired!

I don't like it, don't get me wrong. I've been pulling for the next great, but if you watch the film, he grounded, paused, motioned, and then reset to hit.

He mentally screwed himself yet again.

Bubba fell apart as well. No on wants to e the next guy.

I do. but then again, I can't drive from the course to the hotel without a tree hitting my car.

I agree that it is his and his caddys fault but I personally don't think that should be considered a bunker, the gallery was able to walk through it all week. I'm sorry that just isn't right

In regard to the video, I ask you to watch it again. He set up, paused, motioned, and then reset to hit like you said but when watching it in real time (live) the motioned part was because a spectator created a gap where the light was coming through. He motioned and asked the group to close the gap so that it was all shadow. The video confirms that the motion wasnt an acknowledgment of grounding but of getting the spectators to stand together to block the light.

I wanted Bubba to win even before this but I was disgusted at how this went down. This is one of those guys that is going to win a ton of tournaments for a long time to come and feel like he was robbed of a great opportunity.

Also I completely agree that throughout the 4 rounds I'm sure tons of guys did the same thing, thinking the same thing but because of the magnification of the situation its just a bit crazy.

I thought the same thing at first Bryan but if you watch the replay he paused because there was a sliver of sunlight directly on his ball. He asked someone in the crowd to move so they could completely shade the sunlight from his ball.
