Going to Philadelphia in May for a wedding, and will have a day or 2 to see some sites. Where would be fun to stay, in which area. Can anyone recommend what is cool to see in Philly. I will have my wife with me, so stuff she might like also. Thanks.

Independence Hall / Liberty Bell - the pile of rubble that was the Vet.

Olde City for some night life - pubs / cafes

Delaware Ave - if you're into the Club scene

Finish off in China Town with a 'Happy Ending'

I am beginning to think that Philly may be lame to see....except for the cheesesteak. Where is the best one to get? Any good restaurants out there?

There are no bad cheesesteaks in Philly.

The first time I had one in Philly I had never tasted anything
like that. Worth the trip right there.

Doughboy I am not sure what exactly you would be looking to do? Even though I live here "in Philly" I had to think about it for a minute LOL actually a few :D

Not sure if you'll be staying in Center City or what, but here goes.........

The Lowes Hotel is where I would send some one (Center City)

There are so many great places to eat in Philly, so I'll start with cheesesteaks I'd say Pats OR Genos 9th and Passiyunk (south phila.)

Sports Bar THE BEST AROUND BY FAR Chickie and Pete's 1526 Packer Ave (South Phila.) The have the best king crab legs, and crab fies anywhere ;)

Fine Dining- La Bec Fin sp? ( reservations only) VERY EXPENSIVE as well as The 4 seasons (Center City)

We have several Historical Sites, liberty bell, The Betsy Ross House , Independance Hall and so on if your into that sort of thing???? I honestly haven't seen that stuff since my 5th grade field trip LOL ;) Not to mention the Art Museum. The Franklin Institute is pretty cool.

If you end up going to see the liberty bell you can take a horse and buggy ride threw Old City, your wife might like that! ;)

Shopping is just everywhere like in any city , but the reading terminal market is kind of fun.

South Street is a stop you might want to make , RAYMOND says its kind of like Hollywood Blvd. I've never been to HW BLVD so I couldn't tell ya!!! The freaks all go there........But its different.

You could also take a ferry to the camden NJ aquarium from Penns Landing its supposed to be one of the biggest aquariums ever????

Nightlife- since I am assuming you'll be staying in Center City anywhere on Delaware Ave, there must be a dozen clubs to choose from and Dave and Busters is also there too, big adult arcade that serves alcohol  I ve never been there but some people seem to like it there.

Keep in mind also you will only be 1 hour TOPS from center city to A.C. since you have a few days to kill , what the hell right?? Its really easy to hit the AC expressway , one highway all the way into AC

Hope this helps a little.......... Not knowing what your looking for or even how old you are doesn't help me much! at any rate good luck enjoy my city for we hope to get out of this sh*thole of a city when my kids are all done school LOL Just Kidding WELL NOT REALLY!!!!!!! Have Fun

Thanks for your help guys. A couple of questions.

Is Center City tthe place to stay and hang out in Philadelphia? It seems you both are talking about that.

Also, I found a good deal on a hotel and not sure if it is a good area. Can you tell me where the hotel below is, and if it is in a good area , being that it is safe, and close to things to see. Also, is it close to center City.

Club Quarters
1628 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia PA 19103

Thanks for your help.

Just did a search on Mapquest on the above hotel, and saw it was 3 blocks from Market Street and 1/2 mile from the Loews that TBonez mentioned. Will wait to hear a couple comments before booking if I can. Looked like it was just a short walk to the Philadelphia stock exchange, so I am figuring it can't be in a bad area. Thanks.
