KRC, where do you live in Texas? My wife and I are looking at places in Mazatlan. My sister in law has a place there a block from the ocean and it's awesome. Everything is cheap there so when they go they spend next to nothing. The people are really nice and always wanting to help you out. It's not like a typical Mexican tourist area where they live. There are direct flights that aren't too pricey.

So for 200k less, cheaper to have fun once you get there and flying instead of driving and I'm willing to bet you'll spend a lot less. The reason I ask where you live is because the cost to drive has to be pretty high and then you factor in the time it takes.
