played it on playstation, and detroit won. :grins:

playing the ML bc last 2 meetings 3 - 3 tie. wont chance the puck line.

loss of modano and the red wings at home are good enough for me. look for detroit to take advantage of the faceoffs, and use there speed on the wings to move the puck up the ice quick.

look for dallas to be tired late in the game and that's why the play on the over.

Dallas Stars (18-7-7-1) at Detroit Red Wings (17-8-5-1), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars try to extend their unbeaten streak to four games tonight when they visit the Detroit Red Wings in a clash of Western Conference powers.

Dallas maintains the National Hockey League's best record with 44 points, while Detroit sits atop the Central Division with 40.

There was a scary moment for the Stars in the first period, when Modano was crunched into the boards from behind by Flyers center Jeremy Roenick. Modano hit his head on the glass and fell to the ice, where he stayed for several minutes. He suffered a mild concussion and is questionable for this evening's contest.

Dallas, 7-6-5 on the road, will play the third installment of a seven-game road set. The Stars will visit New Jersey on Saturday.

Detroit, meanwhile, is 5-1-2 in its last eight tries, including Tuesday's 2-2 tie on Long Island. Igor Larionov and Luc Robitaille scored to bring the Wings out of a 2-0 hole, with Robitaille's tally 6:56 into the third period proving to be the equalizer.

The Wings had a golden opportunity to secure the victory in the latter stages of regulation, but Kris Draper was stopped by former teammate Chris Osgood on the shorthanded breakaway.

Detroit, which has won five of its last six at Joe Louis Arena, will host the Rangers on Saturday.

These teams have skated to a pair of ties this season, although the Red Wings are 5-2-2 in the last nine clashes.

DETROIT (TICKER) -- The Dallas Stars will be without center Mike Modano on Thursday, when they clash with the Detroit Red Wings for the second time in 13 days.

In Tuesday's 2-2 tie with the Philadelphia Flyers, Modano scored 29 seconds into the game but less than five minutes later was slammed headfirst into the boards by Philadelphia's Jeremy Roenick, his United States Olympic hockey teammate.

Modano had trouble making it to the locker room even with the help of a trainer and four teammates and Roenick received a two-game suspension. Moadno, who leads the Stars with 35 points, suffered a mild conncussion and also will miss Saturday's game at New Jersey.

On December 6, Detroit's Brett Hull scored with 46 seconds remaining in the third period against his former team as the Red Wings rallied for a 3-3 tie with the Stars at Dallas.

The Western Conference rivals also met on November 3. Jason Williams scored a power-play goal with 6:19 left in regulation as the Red Wings rallied twice en route to a 3-3 tie with the Stars.

The Red Wings are 11-3-2-1 at home this season, outscoring their opponents, 55-39.

Dallas stars are 7-6-5 on the road.
