paul johnson is one of the absolute best"little known" coaches in college football.......and the academies are much more disciplined than their major college counterparts....may be why air force surprises in bowls year in and year out....

i admit i`m having trouble with this game....particularly with the line indicating navy money coming in....(now 11 or 11.5 depending where you look)....

anyway,here it is....

Navy loafs into Houston Bowl
Ryan Stetson

"There's no doubt that Navy will bring its lethal run offense into the Houston Bowl as a well rested squad, but will the players be ready to play after enjoying all the holiday fun?

Navy resumed practicing on Friday following a nine-day break in which the players returned home for Christmas. It was the first time many on the Navy squad made it home since March.

but that brings the 8-4 (9-1-2 against the spread) club into Tuesday's bowl game against Texas Tech with just three days to work off their turkey guts.

"Leave is so precious around here for these guys that you might have a revolt if you told them they had to stay here for Christmas," coach Paul Johnson told reporters. "After keeping them here over Thanksgiving, I didn't have the heart to keep them over Christmas too. I might have lost all my assistant coaches too."

Navy also didn't practice at all during the week following the 34-6 pounding they put on Army as a 22 1/2-point favorite on Dec. 6. Players wrote finals during that stretch and then squeezed in three practice days before being dismissed for the holidays.

The Midshipmen will have had the seven practices to get ready for Texas Tech, but that's over the better part of a month and includes the breaks.

And in some ways, the Houston Bowl is a bit anticlimactic to Navy's season after beating Army.

"The bowl game is a reward for us," Navy senior quarterback Craig Candeto told reporters before the Army game. "We're not going to take it lightly. But (Army) is our biggest rival. It's our most important game."

Oddsmakers have Navy as a 12 1/2-point dog in Tuesday's game with the total set at a whopping 74 points."

let me add a caveat.....if you think this is a stupid article,don`t kill the messenger:D ;) .....

just throwing info out there in case someone hadn`t seen this....

that total is begging me to play the under......navy has seen nothing even close to this type of passing attack this year.....

and you can probably say the same for tx tech and navy`s option......maybe missou?...not really an option attack, althoough they run it......and blew tx tech a new one....

this game reminds of last night`s game.....without the one dominating defense....2 teams that haven`t seen the other`s mode of attack....and navy tends to break some big runs out of the option....their halfbacks have speed...

right now,i have no idea....couldn`t even venture a wild guess on the total....

i`m gonna check the consensus sites to see what the majority is thinking....
