Very sorry to read the story. I had to push myself to open the thread. I understand and hope your grief goes away soon and hope this bout of bad luck does not stop you from getting another "friend" in the very near future. Take solace in the fact that you did the right thing...........I somehow promise all my pets that I will be very strong and make sure that they never suffer needlessly. That's the least I can do for them to repay them for the joy they give me.

Sorry for your loss. As others have said, you can't begin to understand the pain unless you have gone through it. I think we sometimes look at our pets almost as babies because they can't speak to us except with their expression and unconditional love.

Jake Deniro.I know how you feel about not having a dry eye. Sunday and today I have been on the verge but held back because when I cry then the wife crys and then I cry more because I cant stand to see her hurting also. Hang tough because I know time will help ease the pain.

I know I will eventually get another dog, but it wont be for awhile. My heart just would not be in it right now.

I feel exactly the same...I need closure. As I told my daughters when they said about getting me another dog. "If you're mother were to die, do you think I would run out and get someone else right away......NO". It's the same feeling, my hearts not there. No one could ever take their places. Of course it would never be the same, but in time maybe, as we all have needs... maybe so, maybe no....only time would tell. Best to you...take care.
