Barges of coal make their way up the Allegheny River this morning under a snowfall that obscures Downtown (Pittsburgh).

Vinnie that's funny...buddy where is the coal going? I know people used to use it for heat but is that what it is used for now? I'm guessing factories but aren't they getting away from that? :shrug:

I believe the coal goes to a steel mill (about 15 miles outside the city) where it is then loaded into railroad hoppers. Fully loaded coal trains, about 62 cars, then interchange with other railroads and the coal is then delivered to electric generating plants primarily located in the central part of the U.S.
