I wont go near the Nurse area for my wife is a RN in a specialty field. Pay is not wild but i would say close to fair. Funny thing is her schooling for what she does took 6 years. The two Doc's she works with are 8 and 9 years grads. She makes about 1/4 of what they do. But does 75% of what they do with patients. She does more then 75% of what they do in the education part of working with the patients. But women seem to get the short end of the stick many times. At least thats what they claim. Maybe there right. My wife loves what she does so much that she never complains. Even when fighting cancer her self she never felt sorry for herself or complained. I believe she is worth at least another 15%. But then the playing field might get to close to those Doc's.
For those of you who have not been around to many Docs. First they like the word god because many thing they are. Next they dont like to be questioned because they never are wrong. And they can prove that. Ask them.
But I like Doc's idea about those grape and apple pickers. Thats about where were headed. Burger flippers and walmart. Doc we need some real jobs. And for not enough nurses. Pay them the shortage would go away.

lmao...i get scutted by nurses where i am at....and if i don't do what they say, my life becomes hell....

docs require 12-13 YEARS post high school....not 8....nurses require 4-6....nurses make 50-80 grand easily....and don't have to go through the hell of med school and residency....and dont have their asses on the line day in adn day out....and maybe take care of 2-4 patients while docs have 15-20 on most services...

so get your facts and numbers straight...

not all doctors have a God complex...some do but so do people in other professions....and if you saved lives day in and day out, you would probably develop a God complex yourself....

Any Docs hanging around school 12/13 years after high school. Are either very specialiced or surgens. You know darn well others are in practice in less then 10.
It's a mute point. You have a shortage of nurses. You know why.

uhh no....you are misinformed......

some docs take 15 years after high school

4 years college
4 years med school
4 years residency
3 years fellowship

no one does less than 10....family practice, IM, ER docs all do 11...that is the least you can do

Doc I will use you numbers. However they are starting to get payed already by year 9 or 10. Some even have houseing provided there last 4/6 years. Maybe not free but less then average Joe would pay. And remember not all give that time to fellow ship. And if they do by that time there in the $$.

fellows get paid about 50 grand a year working 60-70 hours

residents get paid 35-40 grad a year working 80-90 hours....works out to about 6-7$/hour

only housing you get paid is a cheap mattress and hopefully 1-2 hours of sleep in the hospital....

never heard of anything else....

so you don't make the big bucks until you are out of fellowship....and even then you start low man on the totem pole in a practice and get the sh_t hours....

later you bank though...i will give you that....
