Pittsburgh Pa
Pitt has always been an enigma for me. If I play on them they beat me if I play against them they beat me. See last week for more on this. The Steelers will be playing their 4th road game in 5 weeks on Sunday. I do think Carson palmer would have made a big difference last week and the Steelers are fortunate to be still alive.

Hello Clem...

First of all, I do enjoy your thoughtful analysis and think you do a nice job, however, I have to disagree with your above assessment that Palmer would have made all the difference due to the fact that Pittsburgh had posted a record of 3-1 straight up and ATS versus Palmer in the four previous meetings leading up to this playoff game.

With regard to this being Pittsburgh's 4th road game in five weeks, that is a true statement however you failed to note that last weeks game at Cincy was only 289 miles from downtown Pittsburgh and that Pittsburgh played at home the week prior and the game prior to that was at Cleveland which is only a 2.5 hour car ride from Pittsburgh...thus I think we can discount the road thing in Pittsburgh's case.

You should however be concerned with Carolina who is playing on the road for the 3rd straight week and are also on the road for the 4th time in a 5 week span, the same holds true with Washington who is playing on the road for the 3rd straight and is making a journey from one shore to another.

Historically speaking, there have been 29 playoff teams since 1984 that played on the road for 3 straight weeks, these teams lost 26 of those 29 games in straight up fashion and posted a record of 7-22 ATS in those games.

Just some food for thought, take care and be well my friend...

Jim

No the time off for the home teams is a godsend at playoff time. Especially in the redskin game.
I can not stress this enough. 3 straight roadgames flying crosscountr, and being in do or die situations for six weeks.

It is just too much for this team.

It will be a blowout

Clem,

I'll be rockin' with the folks at Invesco this Saturday with my beloved Broncos. Couldn't agree more, we have to be the most overlooked 13-3 team in history. Belichick is not a huge advantage over someone like Shanahan and the homefield will make the difference. Go Broncs!

plus whenever the heavily bet public team is GETTING the points, we usually know which way to go.

I'm liking Carolina too though and that scares me

wow.

so 28-20 now constitues "a beating"?

did you happen to watch the game?
. and the patriots still had a shot at tying the game on their final drive in the 4th quarter.

Yeah I DID watch the game. Thats why I know the game was nowhere near as close as the score reflects. Denver DOMINATED the game on both sides of the line of scrimmage for 40 minutes or so. Their defense let the Pats draw closer in the 4th quarter but made stops when they had to. So yes, if you look below the score, sometimes an 8 point win can be a bigger butt whoopin than ya think

And guess what? No Dillon or Bruschi this time either so what was the point of your post?

do you want to take a side bet on bruschi AND dillon both playing this weekend? i forgot that belichick is famous for ALWAYS informing the media and public about his player's status well in advance and then sticking to it as well...
quick question though- why would bruschi have dressed last weekend if he wasn't planning on playing that game or tomorrows game? and since it wasn't because the game was blowout and there was no need for him to step on the field, im hoping you can help explain this for me.

FYI DNJND

Dillon is listed as probable while Bruschi isn't even on the injury list.

FYI Trentwalker, Broncos still KICKED THE PATS A$$es last time they went to Denver, regardless of who played, didnt play, or is playing this weekend. I'm not betting on it so I dont give a chit if JOE MONTANA comes out of retirement to play linebacker!!

Not a thread I enjoy reading more than your's Clem. That's why I know my chances of winning this week are diminished right now. I am with you on the Broncos but buttn' heads on the other three :( (I'll have to get some more padding in my helmet) Think I'll tail ya on that Indy total to at least give me a couple winners :) Wishing you the best :mj14:

brushman....

right after the lines came out for this game, i thought getting wash.+ 8.5/9 with their running attack, defense, & coach i thought how could you not take wash......

but once i started capping the game & re-evaluating the wash./tampa game, my mind changed.....i think seattle is the best balanced team offensively & defensively in the nfc....+ they will be playing home throughout the playoffs.....

i also read an article where a book stated that the line would have opened at 7.5 without wash.'s injuries & they added 1/1.5 points for the injuries & circumstances....

i'm also well aware of who seattle/wash.played & how each game played out.....but the situations (there are many) point, imo to a seattle win/cover

i know wash. getting all those points looks inviting.....but i always remember what my handicapping guru once told me ..."the nore you're getting cheated the better the bet".....

that said......wash. could cover this game....it wouldn't be the first time i was wrong...& if that happens i'll go onto the next game....

good luck.
