hey Shamrock.........where did I say baseball was easy

was referring to toughness.........

to get to the top of any sport is amazing.....and extremely difficult

might want to read my posts a little closer nowhere did I say any sport is easy.....was referring to toughness.....and when it comes to tougness baseball players are a joke........that's what I was saying.......

guess I can respect the ability to hit a 95 mph fastball, but that's about where my respect for baseball stops...the game is boring and these guys get paid millions and do next to nothing......geez even "pinch runners" make millions........just sad to see all those other sports out there and what those athletes go through...and then ya look at baseball.......I mean come on........

I will say I do respect all athletes that make it to the top of their sport........it's far from easy :p

kick, ok I apologize for earlier statement, if its toughness your talking, you have somewhat of a point. I played both collegiate Football & baseball, and am still somewhat sensitive from my Football buddies breaking my balls about baseball. Funny thing is most of them couldn't hit a ****ing wiffleball.

I'll tell you another thing I learned about hockey in college, those guys set records for alcohol consumption:) used to swear you Canadians started drinking Molson in Baby bottles.

when an NBA team scores 4 points in a quarter, I think they are the individuals who need to grow up, NBA at its finest!

So your telling me that hockey players dont go on scoring slump's? your telling me that hockey team's score a goal every game? i have seen team's score 3 goal's in 7 game's.

The NHL is a fkn joke and that's why it get's the lowest rating's and buy rate's out of the 4 major sport's.

I would seriously rather watch a repeat of some ol' sitcom over these boaring defencive team's like the Devils in the playoffs.

all these athletes are gifted, that is a given. Individual toughness in a team sport and physically laying it on the line is what I believe Doc is referring to. I go with the NHL, then the NFL in the USA. NBA, MLB no ccomparison, not even on the charts. NBA is a joke, under achieving over paid group of MOOKS, it is the top 5% that keep the fan interest, rest are filler. It is a shame so much ability is wasted on punks, addicts, wife beaters who happen to be 6'9" and can dunk a basketball. In aleague where the professionalism of Duncan is a rarity, so is the toughness, mental and physical.

NBA players don't earn their money? In a sport where your starters are on the court running up and down for 35+ minutes a game? Let me get this straight Do you have any idead of how much stamina and endurance it take's to play in the NBA

In hockey you have four lines and your shifts are never that long, and you're on the bench for half the game. Not to mention you have 20 minute intermissions after the first, and second period. In the nba you don't have 20 minutes to rest after every quarter.

The only sport that seems to play fulltime up and down the field like they do in the nba is football, and even then half the time your players offense or defense is on the bench. In the nba, unless you have to many fouls, kicked out of the game or you're resting for a few seconds before being put right back in the game, you're not geting to half ass it game after game.

Shawn Kemp, Robert Traylor..... ;) nobody runs for 35 min. straight lucky if they go 3 min. without foul, out of bounds, or timeout.

Soccer players run more than anyone in any other team sport.

I have to agree that the NBA is a joke. I would much rather watch Jr. Pro basketball than the NBA. I feel bad for guys like Duncan who get no respect from a guy like myself because the league that he plays in sucks so bad. I'll give individuals their props, but the NBA as a whole sucks more than any sport besides the WNBA.

I have gone to Wisky hockey. I like university hockey better then pro. If it's true hockey only does have 1% fights. Well I guess it's no tougher then a few other sports. I never did grasp why guys would come flying out on the ice. Play 6 or 8 minutes then fly back into the players bench. So hockey is 60 minutes long and many guys play 30 minutes total. Not much differant then many sports.

A fight in hockey is more than just a bunch of fists being thrown at each other.

Yes, I know, it looks like a bunch of goons going at it with each other for nuthin.

Ever notice that it seems like EVERY team has one player that seems to ALWAYS get in the fight during the game? That's their "goon"
They set the tone and attitude for the team. A fight doesn't break out because someone called the other guy's momma a whore or anything. it is done to send a message to the other team - "hey do NOT f*ck with us!"

The goons are out there to protect the premiere goal scorers on the team.
Wonder why Super Mario has been in like 2 fights his entire career? it's not his job! he scores goals! And then when the other team lays a hard licking on him, Kasparitis (for example) delivers a "message" to the other team that says "hey dude, dont touch our boy like that or you are going to continue to be pummeled." And then the other team stops hitting Mario hard out of the fear of repercussion. Then, Mario goes on to continue to score goals and win games (cough cough cough)

Of course, with the advent of the "Third man in rule" in the NHL, the fighting has gone down considerably.

Look at Wayne gretzky in his Oiler days. Do you honestly think that he would have scored HALF as many goals as he did if he did not have 4 other mafia type players backing him up? Who the hell is going to drill gretzky KNOWING that messier is going to put a target on the back of your head and spend the rest of the game zeroing in on you like a laser guided bunker buster?
not me, thats for damn sure!

Yes, a lot of times there are some all out brawls... and they develop over time between two teams. Look at Colorado and Detroit in the mid-late 90's. They just plain hated each other.

But at least there is an unwritten code of conduct in the hockey fights. They STOP when one man goes down. they don't hit each other with the sticks... (except one or two players... another story). and 99% of the time, the rest of the team does not take cheap shots at each other.
Now look at the sissies of baseball... get hit by a pitch, charge the mound, throw your bat, and have both benches clear and everyone beats on each other.
Look at the nba turds.... its like a damn gang fight in the street when someone gets their panties bunched up.

Hockey players may fight more than the other sports. But they have CLASS and it is part of the game.
