The bottom line for me is that Obama was elected to fix the economy & has not done that....He came into office with a very high approval rating & with people really looking for him to succeed....In the first 2 years of his Presidency & with both houses Democratically controlled, he did nothing about trying to fix the economy....Instead he took on the Health Care issue, which wasn't the major issue that the American people wanted him to tackle....

I admit that Obama took over a bad situation, but that is the reason why he or any other person is elected during bad times....To fix the problems & not give excuses....

....
............................................................

So talk about how you feel Obama has worked with Israel during his Presidency.

I am 36 almost 37...I voted for Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain and Romney 2012

I agree with most of your points, like pro choice except late term i think it should be paid for in full by the potential mother, not the government, stem cell research and strong military...

I think marriage should be only one male and one female  If your gay I do not care just do not think they should be able to marry..

I also want to legalize marijuana and tax it

Good discussion ar :0074

Hi Al. Here's my problem with Obama: He's following most of GWB's policies and the things that he is trying to get done are getting pissed on by the Republicans and he isn't calling them out on it. In other words, he isn't a strong enough leader. I want someone that says "We are pulling all troops out of the Middle East and the first attack on our country will be countered by a nuclear attack on the country of origin". I want someone that comes up with programs (social and economic) and defends them. Pretty simple. I honestly believe Obama sucks but he is much better than what currently represents the Republican party. And that is a disgrace.

Great post, Al. I agree with most of what you wrote.

* I do not support gay marriage. The only marriage that should be legal is between a man and a woman.

* I think welfare should be cut back and much tighter restraints be put on who receives welfare. Each welfare recipient should be tested randomly for drugs and if they fail, they forfeit their welfare privilige permanantly.

* Cap the payout on welfare on the number of children that people have so that they don't continue to have more kids that they can't support on their own. Intentionally exploiting the welfare system based on having more kids needs to be stopped.

* I do not support tax cuts for the wealthy. We have a serious debt in this country and everyone, including the wealthy needs to contribute.

* Government spending by the current Dems is compeltely irresponsible and out of control. I too don't think Obama cares one iota about the spending crises he's created. He has no concept of money.

* A strong military is a must in this unstable, radical world of dictatorships and Muslim influence. We have to be able to protect the U.S.

* Take a strong look at all of the foreign aid and financial support that we give to other countries. We have enough debt here, our economy needs fixing, and we have poverty here. The U.S. comes first, and then if we have money left over, we can help other countries.

* Offer federally mandated english speaking courses for those that cannot speak english. There is nothing wrong with being bilingual, but EVERYONE who lives in the U.S. should be required to learn and speak english.

* Obama has failed to turn around the economy and lower the unemployment rate. He's had his opportunity and failed.

* Require tougher reporting guidelines for those who are unemployed that are drawing unemployment compensation. They need to be out actively looking for a job every day and not being lazy depending on a government handout.

* Fix the cost of rising gas prices in America. There is no reason why gas prices should be this high.

Obama needs to go! He's failed this country as president and it's time for a change! :toast:

Thanks MM....Great post yourself....

I've always felt that the welfare system should be changed....I used to apply people for aid when I worked in a few NYC hospitals & witnessed people "working" the system....But am not sure how to do it, although I don't think healthy people should get money for doing nothing....

I agree that there shouldn't be tax cuts, breaks, or whatever for anybody, including corporations....I also would like to know why some people don't pay any taxes at all....Before taxes are raised, I would like to know where that money will go....& finally I would like to see what spending will be cut before any tax increases....It's time for our government to be accountable for spending our money....

Thanks for the post....

Great post, Al. I agree with most of what you wrote.

* I do not support gay marriage. The only marriage that should be legal is between a man and a woman. Why do you give a fuck? Honestly? How does it impact your life?

* I think welfare should be cut back and much tighter restraints be put on who receives welfare. Each welfare recipient should be tested randomly for drugs and if they fail, they forfeit their welfare privilige permanantly. I am not against making welfare restrictions that include drug testing, but why cut back? What do you think happens when money is doled out to welfare? It goes right back into the economy IMMEDIATELY, which supports our economy. Can you argue against that?

* Cap the payout on welfare on the number of children that people have so that they don't continue to have more kids that they can't support on their own. Intentionally exploiting the welfare system based on having more kids needs to be stopped. I think there needs to be an incentive to NOT have kids. Starving the ones that are born isn't the answer. Give women that are on welfare or whatever a tax credit for not having kids and I will support it 100%.

* I do not support tax cuts for the wealthy. We have a serious debt in this country and everyone, including the wealthy needs to contribute. With you on this one. They contribute, but they need to feel the same level of burden. The amount is the important part, it is the burden.

* Government spending by the current Dems is compeltely irresponsible and out of control. I too don't think Obama cares one iota about the spending crises he's created. He has no concept of money. Our military budget is fucking stupid and is the root of all our issues today. Look it up.

* A strong military is a must in this unstable, radical world of dictatorships and Muslim influence. We have to be able to protect the U.S.Are you saying that ground forces are the answer? I propose nuclear bombs and would drop them tomorrow if another US citizen died due to terrorism. My idea of power is probably different than most, but I like the kind of power that scares the living shit out of you rather than the kind that we are currently using.

* Take a strong look at all of the foreign aid and financial support that we give to other countries. We have enough debt here, our economy needs fixing, and we have poverty here. The U.S. comes first, and then if we have money left over, we can help other countries. With you on this one.

* Offer federally mandated english speaking courses for those that cannot speak english. There is nothing wrong with being bilingual, but EVERYONE who lives in the U.S. should be required to learn and speak english. How is that an incentive? I don't think it is of any real importance, but if you think it is, come up with a reason to learn it. If I move to France, I should have a reason to learn French but not be forced to.

* Obama has failed to turn around the economy and lower the unemployment rate. He's had his opportunity and failed. I think you know my position on this.

* Require tougher reporting guidelines for those who are unemployed that are drawing unemployment compensation. They need to be out actively looking for a job every day and not being lazy depending on a government handout. Sounds awesome on paper. If you ever lose your job, I hope you can live up to your expectations.

* Fix the cost of rising gas prices in America. There is no reason why gas prices should be this high. Gas prices aren't the president's responsibility.

Obama needs to go! He's failed this country as president and it's time for a change! :toast:

Hey Gary....I wasn't a big fan of Bush & voted for him because of 9/11....Thought that he was the worst communicator of any president in my lifetime....But after 3, 3.5 years it's time for Obama & his minions to stop blaming the prior adminstration for everything that has gone wrong & stand up like a man & take responsibility for his/their actions....He was elected to fix the economy & not make excuses....The guy is a major whiner !!

I didn't vote for Obama because I didn't think he was ready to be president, but I was willing to give him a chance....He lost me when he took on healthcare in the beginning, instead of taking care of the employment issue & the economy....He should have learned something when Clinton tried to "solve" the healthcare issue & got lambasted for doing it....He lost tremendous goodwill from the American people & The Republicans by doing this....

I don't agree with pulling all of the troops out of the Middle-East....I think we need some presence there to keep some kind of order....

I don't know how you can say that Obama is better than anything the Republicans have to offer....The American people are not responding to anything he says or does anymore & seem to be tired of his spiel....Similar to how the people reacted when Carter was president....

Obamacare will cripple this country on many levels if it becomes effective....You think things are bad now, wait until the costs come due for this....Everybody & I mean everybody will get their taxes raised....

I honestly have hope that Romney can be a very good president....I like his qualifications & have the same hope people had for Obama, except I think Romney is better equipped to be president than Obama....

Thanks for your post, Gary....

Hey Al, I just wanted to respond to one thing. You mentioned that Obamacare will cripple this country, but I think the cost of it is dwarfed by our ridiculous military spending. I know you think we have to have a presence in order to maintain order, but I don't think that is happening. The results do not justify the cost. Those animals over there think they can win because we play their stupid game. As I mentioned before, I make one declaration and then I start dropping nuclear bombs. It is drastic, but it is necessary and much more efficient economically.

A great post Al. I agree with most of what you say and I am very disappointed in Obama. But, I think much of the problem with the economy is because he has allowed his hands to be tied because of the Republicans.
True, he had two years to get things done and why he did not use that time is basically why I have my problems with him.
But, with the Republicans not allowing anything through has stalled anything he wanted to do.
If we vote in Romney we will just be putting back in place the same policies that caused the problems in the first place. Only this time they will be multiplied.
As a country we are in a tough spot. Vote in the guy who has not been able to put in place anything to get us out of trouble we are in or vote in a guy who embraces the very policies that got us into the mess in the first place!

Hey Stevie....I think I answered your post in the other posts that I wrote....But I will say that I think it is time for Obama to stop blaming the prior administration & take responsibility for his presidency & read about Harry Truman....

A-effing-men, Al! Bush hasn't been on office for over three years! WTF does Bush and the Republicans have to do with how lousy of a president that Obama is?? People need to quit blaming the previous regime. Its over. Its been over. Hold Obama's tenure accoutable for what it is (or isn't). If you don't like the job Obama has done, then vote him out of office, but quit blaming the Republicans, when the Democrats have had their chance and they have failed miserably on their own valition!

It is not so much to defend Obama. It is to remind people that Romney, is Bush! There is no difference. Those policies got us into the mess we are in. We can argue over why Obama has not fixed it but one thing is a fact. We got into this mess during the Bush years and the last thing we need now is Romney. What is Romney going to do, cut the cap gains tax and raise taxes on the middleclass and poor? What is his plan to fix Health Care costs that are running out of control now. Before ObamaCare kicks in.
I do not see what he brings to the table other than a rehash of the Bush years.
That being said, Obama has not been much better.

its all about the economy, Romney was a turnaround specialist when he was in private business...why can't he do it for the US government...after 8 years of Romney this country will be in great shape I believe. I also like the fact he is middle of the road socially and Conservative fiscally...perfect candidate with all the crying from the liberals about social issues, maybe he can meet them in the middle

Where it is real F ing COLD
I think some people feel comfortable with Obama as a person. He is a likeable guy for many, I believe people put more trust into him (right or wrong) cause many want to see him do well. (liberals). Now the problem the Republicans have is once again weather you think it is right or wrong is G.W., yeah it's been over 3 years but if you are a lib or lean lib then the thought of Romney being like Bush scares the shit out of you. He left such a bad taste in people's mouth.

Now for the next election, what is Romney going to do? People are pissing about Obama care but do people realize that the Obama care was based on the foundations of Romney care? Romney is going to increase spending too, he is going to boost the military even more. Is he going to give more tax breaks to the rich? More tax breaks to the rich can create more jobs but it puts a heavier tax burden on me and you. Also people are bitching about the unemployment rate. With this day and age of technology are we as a country ever going to have unemployment rate at the lows they were at even if the economy is going upward?

I am still studying Romney but I just don't see him turning it around or spend the money I am taxed on what I find is important. I am giving Obama another shot.

Too bad the country is not a business. In fact, it is the opposite of a business. When we need revenue we can't raise prices because we usually give our services for free. When things are bad and revs are low is usually when we are at our busiest.

In the shadows
As usual,

I will reply with a rambling answer going back and forth trying to reply to Al's initial statement.

First,

My voting record,

1st POTUS VOTE Reagan, I was a young soldier, and the military was strong. Marrou, Browne, Browne, Badnarik, Paul, ( I COULD NOT VOTE LIBERTARIAN BECAUSE ROOT WAS VP ON TICKET  )

I am the Black Sheep in my family where everyone, but me would vote for a canned ham if it were to be Republican Nominee. I do believe there are several people here that also fall into that category.

Spending sometime outside of the "Golden Orange" I realized that the entire country did not have the luxurious lifestyle that I had grown up in.

We were not extremely rich when I was growing up, but not living in poverty either. Many times my father was close to bankruptcy. He took many financial and business risks before he hit Gold. One risk was leaving a profitable Medical Supply company in San Diego, he was driving 120 miles, round trip daily. Five years later, the company went public and his former partners all banked over $15 mil. That was 20 years ago. But he drove on, he hit it rich, I put money into that company from my Army paycheck, which wasn't shit in 1986. I kept $300 for myself a month, the rest was investing in him. It paid off.

Anyways.... The places I have seen, in the US that were shocking to me, hard to believe in the 20th Century that people lived in such shitty conditions blew me away. I went home with some of my Army Buddies, to Mississippi, Lousiana, Florida, Georgia, WTF ! Time Warp into the 1850's !

"Niggas don't cross the Rail Road Tracks once the street lights come on!"

What ? You can't be serious?

I would be at beach parties or dawn patrol surfing and everyone was"Fighting" for a wave. No punches, just who paddled harder and faster got the ride. Some EFFF You's were exchanged, but rarely nothing more.

Jumping into 3rd World Toilets to suppress the Population because of some POS Dictator was another reality check ! Place after place I went to was a great vacation spot, with all the amentities that could be offered from the 6th Century. I couldn't wait to go again !

My Political Views began to form after all the shit, squalor and poverty I have seen.

I had read Animal Farm, 1984, Brave New World, and other books of the sort when I was 16. Ok, what 16 year old is going to have the attention span and capability of retaining these MIND SCREW BOOKS ! Uhhhh, I was interested in Football and chasing tail and making sure I had enough cash to put in my POS car.

So, when I grew up, a little, I read these books again, while in the field, on deployment, while most of the troops are read "Fuck Books" I tried to get a better grasp of things in the world. I wanted to get beyond the US is the Almighty.

This tend to piss off some of the NCO's, who couldn't read, yet had rank  Some tried to read Animal Farm, thinking it would be like Old McDonald's Farm, they couldn't get past the first 10 pages, but they knew I was a subversive.

Since the murder of JFK, the warning of IKE and the Military Industrial Complex, the country has been a Slave Nation. It does go back further than that, with the other Contract Killings of other Presidents, but the Hit on JFK was the most prominent because of the information age.

The system has failed !
