Everyone knows that Oakland has a high scoring offense. but it has been the play of their defense that has turned their season around. There have been 10 unders in Oakland's last 12 games with the average score totaling 43 points per game. Against Tampa Bay's vanilla offense I don't see much trouble in Oak. stopping them. TB does not have much speed at WR & their running attack averages about a medocre 3.5 yds. per rush. Although Tenn. scored 24 points last week, I see TB scoring no more than 17 points. The reason that Tenn. scored those points was because they have a mobile QB. McNair was a one man show. Johnson does not pose that running threat at QB. I see TB plodding down the field when they do manage to move the ball.
People have compared TB's defense with Balt's. of a few years ago, & I agree. This season TB has gone under in 5 of 6 games in which the total was 39 points or higher. They have not permitted any team to score more than 24 points this year, & that includes games against passing teams such as Minn., St. Lou, & Pitts. I don't see Oakland scoring more than those 24 points, more closer to 20 or 21 points.
I read something at another sight about Super Bowl scoring that I found interesting. People usually associate the SB with high scoring games. That is true, except if there is the normal time between the Championship game & the SB, as there is during the regular season. There have been 6 games with normal times between games. The average score of those 6 games is a little under 39 points, & 5 of those 6 games games have gone under the number, including a 5-0 under if the total is 39 points or higher. Compare those numbers with the extra week off SB games where the average score was about 52 points per game.
I will not bet the side in this game. I will only take the total to go under. I will play this in Vegas this weekend & it will be a 5x or 10x bet depending on the number.
