Yeah right - that's why the stock market hads been up 500% with Dems compared to 400% with Republicans.

It's widely held that the market will be fairly strong as soon as either cadidate is confirmed the winner.

That being said .....yes, we actually are sheep. Can't really argue much there.

Stock market will ultimately be owned by the scarceity of oil. That favors ANYONE but Bush.

According to several market analysts, the early rise of the dow today was a sign of confidence that the election would be over and decided tonight rather than dragging on via election challenges. It had no bearing on either party's winning/losing the election. It was sheer confidence of the outcome of the election being decided decisively today.

Obviously with the later decline in the dow today, the market has lost some of the confidence that the true results will be known tonight.

Good ploy--Report a few stats on what market has done with republican controled congess vs Dems--after all it is they who ultimately decide.
That is why Kerry's tax BS is mute. While it may be coincidental I think you will find a distinct correlation on todays market that ran parralel to timeframe of odds change see time chart

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?d=t&s=^DJI

Do you seriously think or expect to convince others that a liberal org against businesses and ran by attorneys is good for market. Might I suggest you put down that NYT and pick up a market journal once in a while. :)

So you interpret raising the mimum wage from it's embarrasing levels, offering incentives to keep companies here, and eleiminating loopholes that encourage companies to leave being AGAINST BUSINESS?

Your right - there could be some short term dissappointemt from people at the top of corporate America - this could result in some short term stock losses. But isn't it better that we actually have a middle working class inthe long run?

Would you mind telling us which ones of these he has done?
healthcare for all-balanced budgets-high paying jobs for everyone--continue fight on terror ect.
All nice promises---and if he can accomplish any two of the above 4 without taxing the ying yang out of you I'ill be 1st in line to vote for him next election if he gets by this one.

What candidate from either side hasn't made same promises in every election and which has hit 2 for 4.

I'll stand by what I previously said--who is pres has little to do with economy.

If elected he will have a plus and minus situation going in. The plus he is not inheirting a recession--the minus is it it doubtful that interest rates will continue as low as they been and inflation as tame. The latter is tied also to the market so truthfully he could look like another Jimmy Carter at end of his term and have little input on it. One thing about it if elected he will have to make stances on issues and get off the fence.

dogs,

don't know if your talking to me about the numbers I posted but they come directly from Wall Street Journal as the market has performed much better historically when a Dem is in the White House.

Yep I know that MC --I never dispute your #'s as you do good research as always--I have read a lot on it on Pres and congress and to be honest it is really tough to determine one way or another as consequences like crash in Trumans days and other make things hard to judge on even keel. I really believe the investors think Dems are worse for market but after they get over intial fears things settle down and it doesn't make any diff.
While we think of our wagers on election it would be amazing to know money moved bythe smart people trying to buy into particular fields they think will rise depending on which candidate wins. Glad I not one of the smart ones--too much anxiety--I am basically old fashon buy and hold.

kerry`s walking into an upturning economic cycle.......much like clinton did.......it cyclical....

it`s better to be lucky than good...timing is everything.....

congratulations kerry backers.....i hope the guy can keep all the promises....by taxing the top 2%.......

it sounds good...but not feasible...

still,it looks like it`s kerry`s game.....sans congress....

winning my wagers on kerry will be of little solace.....

but i will try and keep an open mind.....and not be like some dems that were hysterically ridiculous in their bush hatred.....

i`ll give the guy his chance...
