This new forum is giving me a headache

The type is way too small

site takes forever to load on dsl and cable modem

also don't like that you HAVE to log in, otherwise the times are 4 hours ahead

not impressed, hope it gets better

site speed is about the same and the font size is the same as the old forum. we will fix the time issue when we get to it.

i don't know, maybe it's the colors

i've gotten the 'page cannot be displayed' several times in the last few minutes

it is definitely slow on both my computers then it used to be

we were having server problems a little while ago. had nothing to do with the forums. maybe it's faster for you now? and that was the reason for the page not found thing too.

I went back and on for the day to get a feel.

I don't like like it.

Print is too small and the left margin is a total waste of space.

The design is not user friendly in my opinion.

The left margin is a total waste of space. So instead of having to scroll down underneath a bunch of links and ads on top, now theyre in a big left margin that we cant get rid of, once you get beneath them though, youre left with a big blank dead space. Left margin is really bugging me.

Good business decision though if you are Jack. More ads, and you cant escape from them by scrolling down the page.

i agree,jack if u can have an X slider on that left margin it wont be that bad.. in other words be able to get the forum as a whole by being able to minimize that left margin.. :spotting:

Couple of suggestions.

Make it possible to click on the MJ to the left of each of the forums to "mark the forum read"
When you "mark the forum read" from inside a particular forum, return to the main forum page not the parent forum page.

i'm hearing the same complaints about the left margin as i heard about the top and all the scrolling before. people do not like change but they/you/I will get used to it and if i were to change back in 4 months we'll have complaints then too.

sorry some don't like it but i have been using this and learning this for the last month and i didnt like it at first either. you will find, as i did, that the navigation through the site is much easier this way and you might even visit the front page more often. hell, i NEVER visited the front page but i've probably been there over 100 times today. things will be happening on the front page and on the side bar links that i hope you all use and like.

Most of us do balk at change, and I would agree with Jack that we will get used to it. That being said.......I don't like the new format, either.

One more suggestion Jack:

Add a place to proceed to the next thread at the top of the forum page also so you don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom. This is aggravating.

Its obvious this has been in the works for some time, why not a couple months ago a link to the beta site. Sites do that all the time to take comments and feedback, and yeah they usually tell people to piss off, but there are a lot of web programmers here that could have provided feedback.

For instance, whatever I think of the layout, the site itself is not programmed for netscape/firefox - post boxes extend way beyond the page boundry, looks like code wasnt tied off correctly, crap like that. No big deal, lot of "lazy" programmers arent hired to do a full job. And I put quotes around that because I dont blame them, I have done the same thing myself, its a very common tactic these days, programmers arent hired to make sure a site works with both browsers so most of the time they dont pay attention to nuances in the code. Sucks to be me but I'll get over it.

Regardless, its still the same site. This font is driving me crazy though.
