Went 1-3 last week on posted plays, far better overall but that's besides the point. Anyway, I am pounding one game early.

UMD -2.5, 4*

GT has overachieved, but Friedgen has owned them since he's been at MD. Now you give him two weeks to prepare for another Thursday night game in ATL, and only favor the Terps by 2.5? The guy is a mastermind. I'll take a healthy piece of that.

MD once again has rebounded from a poor start and has won five straight. GT has been very good on D but inconsistent on O, and Maryland's stingy defense will keep Ball in check. Special teams and Maryland's ability to run the ball will be the difference.

I don't see the Terps losing in this spot.

Next:
Virginia Tech -13.5, 4*
Over 52, 3*

ytd 50-45, -8.4*

Tampa (4 now)
I'm right there with you - said the same thing on my thread.

This is the heart of Mary's ACC schedule and they need these sort of wins to end up in a significant bowl game.

I'm pressing my MNF winnings on this one hoping to have a nice cushion for Saturday.

wtf

wtf

as of 10/20,sam maldonado is again suspended....he`s their best power runner .......

i`m just not sold on a hobbled perry and allen....and aside from suter, their receivers are just plain pedestrian......

the thing that bothers me is that i suspect that they`ll be able to stop the terp running game....or at least slow it down significantly...and force mcbrien to pass more than usual....

i really want to go by past performance, but,i suspect this is a lesser terp squad.....

i have to admit that i took the terps at 2,but,i`m not sure i`m gonna stick with it after looking this one over....aside from west virginia,i just haven`t been impressed by the terps so far.....their 2 best efforts have been at home(and the clemson game was life and death....they got the benefit of a very dubious td pass in that one)....

precedent would indicate that maryland`s program is a rung up from the g tech`s and the clemson`s....i`m just not sure this year....

hope to hear from more people on this one....still waffling...

as always,g.l.

he`ll play

he`ll play

maybe the time off has helped his ankle....but he`s been hobbled all year....i believe it`s a high ankle sprain...if he`s 100%,he`s tough...but he`s a cutback runnner and when he can`t cut effectively on one ankle,it limits his effectiveness...

Thanks for the input guys.

Perry is getting back to health, probably not quite there but should play well. He is made of glass though, so hopefully he stays healthy throughout the game.

Maryland has beaten GT in both of the meetings between Gaily and Fridge and Fridge is simply the better coach. This game also means a lot to him for obvious reasons. Now, of course, the coach doesn't play the game. But he and his staff are so good at preparations, with two weeks to prepare and no look-ahead, I don't see them losing. McBrien has been inconsistent but has reportedly been playing his best ball of the season lately in practice.

Both defense are excellent, but I don't think GT will be able score enough to win. The running game is bad and Ball will struggle against the MD defense.

Adding a prop:

1st team to score: Maryland (-125), 3*

Terps have scored 1st in all 7 games this season.

Longest FG yardage: Over 39.5, 3* (-120)

Love this one.

i`m sitting hear kinda laughung to myself....reading our comments in that md./g.t. o/u thread you`d think we are all over g tech.....

hopefully, all that means is that we have the ability to look at a game from both sides and give an honest assessment....

but, regarding the game,i think i just realized that i don`t have a real strong opinion either way...i am honestly on the fence here...i`ll wait awhile and see if i hear anything that may push me one way or the other....if not,i`ll off my turtle wager and try and wheedle an edge(won`t be any middle),but probably end up donating the vig to my favorite charity(spiro over at oly...lol)

i`ll be rooting for the terps...shoild be an excellent game...g.l.

It's very important in capping that you look at every game both sides. I always try to steo back when I am strictly looking at it one way. That's why I pulled off BC when at first I was going to play it.

I think the coaching mathcup is somehting people ignore too much. Friedgen has been so consistent. He's 26-7 at MD and the losses have never been bad ones. Check this out:

"Tough Losses

All seven of Maryland's losses in the last two years have come against the stiffest of competition.
FSU was ranked 19th in 2001, fifth in 2002 and 10th this year when it defeated the Terps. Florida was the fifth-ranked team in the nation when it faced Maryland in the Orange Bowl. Notre Dame -- although unranked at the start of the season -- finished 2002 ranked 17th, while Virginia finished 22nd. This year's season-opening loss came to NIU, a team picked to win the Mid-American Conference and is currently undefeated and ranked in the top 20 of both polls. "

That said, not trying to push you off the fence. I also loved BC last week against Cuse, and we know how that ended. GL whichever way you go.

Jeff GL this weekend brother. Had my first losing week last week going 1-3 -5.48. Okie State gave me a nice wake up call them bastards. Got 3 angle plays this week. They went 1-3 LW but still good for 21-12-1 YTD. Let me know your thoughts. Lines going against me on all 3, but steam has been getting their asses handed to them anyway. I feel much better siding with a book anyday, especially the 4-5 sharp ones in the industry ;)
Mizz +3
Ala +3?
N. Texas -2?

To be honest, I have no strong feelingon any of those. Mizzou looks like a live dog. Really no clue on the others. Is the angle a line-move deal or something else?

You're right that the moves haven't been a very good predictor. That those guys aren't winning a lot makes me feel a bit better about getting my ass handed to me for the past three weeks. Bottom line, been taking to many fawking faves. Trying to win consistently in college with chalk is damn near impossible in my experience.

Looking hard at dogs. PSU and Houston look very tempting...
