I find it hard to believe that someone who has a Masters in Theology doesn't understand that discarded religions become mythology. They aren't "myths" to begin with.

Just because I am passionate about this subject doesn't mean I'm angry. Far from it.

One thing I do take offense to is your assumption that I know little on the subject. I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic HS and Jesuit University. I've read more books on religion in the past 2 months than most people read in their lifetime. I also know the Bible better than most believers.

For the record, I don't think that defending my source and asking you to defend yours is combative in the slightest. It's a debate, and it never got personal. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise.

If you would like I can email you a scan of my diploma's.

Your statement concerning "discarded religions become myth" & myth's arent myth's to begin with is not accurate.

You say that as if it is universal in nature. Have some dicarded religions formed the foundation for some myths? Absolutely. Is the orgin of myths discarded religion? Simple put, NO.

The origin of myth is a desire for explanation. This is scientific at its core, not a religious matter. (Not saying that explanation can't have a religious context, but that it is not wholly religious)

Myth's served the purpose of science, religion, history & theology in ancient cultures.

Look...I did not mean to insult you. You just upset me a little with the tone of your previous posts. I was not looking for 'a fight' so to speak.

"Define irony....."

The tip of the spear skewering any and all with faith in the divine spending all his time researching the Bible and various theology scholars in his free time:shrug:

At first glance, this makes perfect sense. However, you don't have to be "pro-" subject to get satisfaction out of studying it and debunking it. Hard to be progressive without people challenging the status quo.

Truth be told IO, it would only relate to medicine, and it cuts both ways.

I am always amazed by the body's ability to absorb punishment/abuse. I can recall a case or two where I have no idea how a patient survived, but there they are........most recently a 24 yo kid shot in the right armpit w/o exit wound that went thru his right lung, through the right atrium and tricuspid valve and stopped lodged halfway thru the right ventricle at the junction with the inferior vena cava (source of 70% of blood returning to heart), where it lodged in such a fasion that it prevented completely trashing the vena cava, which would have ended the game thru complete lack of blood return in about 10mins. One more mm and its over:shrug:

On the flip side, some of your garden variety losers tend to shake the foundations on which faith in human kind are built on........

I dunno, sometimes I wonder if its just whatever baggage I'm carrying around day-to-day
