Thoughts on France/Togo

Find this to be a very intriguing match - obviously France needs to beat the Togolese by 3 clear goals to assure their place in the elimination round, while Togo will be on their way home regardless of the outcome

Watched Togo play in their 1st ever WC game against the Koreans and came away impressed - they held a 1-0 lead and looked pretty good until a questionable call lead to Abalo being lead off the field - the Sparrowhawks never recovered and in the end a 2-1 defeat left them down overall

Have to think Switzerland did not see Togo's best game last out - The deep political ties b/t France and Togo, in my opinion, created a "sandwich" situation - Sparrowhawks were coming off of their 1st ever WC game (pretty big) and in it had suffered a tough defeat, and on deck was France, who I'm assuming Togo was looking ahead to, if only slightly - not to mention the absence of Abalo

Togo def. has something to prove today - they have something to prove to the world, that they belong in this competition - they have something to prove to France, that they are no longer their UN sanctioned "little brothers" - and they have something to prove to themselves, that they can overcome this big-time soccer power and give their countrymen something to be extremely proud of - having their leader Abalo (66 caps) back and fresh should provide a boost towards that end

I think the situation with Togo's coach is almost a bit of a positive here, part of the thinking that Les Bleus' will roll easily I believe is b/c no one thinks the Hawks can band together behind their leader - therefore the super high lines - also everyone knows about France's situation, "simply" win by 3 clear and you're moving on - somehow I don't think it will be that easy -

My plan is to bet Togo +2.5 goals at -151 for about 3 units and hopefully be able to free up some $$$ to bet them every which way but loose - +1600, +1 +395, +1.5 +190, + 2 +117, and +1.5 and +2 +148 - If the French roll in and beat the hell out of Togo then fine, I will take my loss and move on, but if Togo can just hang within 2 I will net a small profit

I am not a huge soccer fan and I admit to not knowing the game very well, but I have a good feeling that this game means every bit as much to Togo as it does to France - will David be able to slay Goliath? If so there's a huge payday in it for me

Good luck to all and please keep posting info as many have been very helpful throughout the tourney thus far

Good Luck today. I dont think it will happen for Togo today, but hell I cant count anymore how many times I have been on the wrong side of a French match.

Thanks 3 Seconds - just looking for Togo to hang tough - not nec. expecting a victory but but anything short of a 3-0 defeat will earn me $$

believe you are on the right side as the French old stale team isn't the Cup winners of 98 but the laughing stock of the newest teams...and Togo as young a team as they are will surely try to stop any killing of their expectations for this match.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
LA...was thinking the same thing....I know squat about soccer, but see Togo as a scrappy ex-French colony. France appears over-rated to me, small play on the Togo's + 1 +375.
Being an ex-French colony, you are going to see the best play they got. gltu

I respect your opinion, but you don't need to look any further than this comment!

Meaning you think this game will be decided by officials? - that is certainly something I'm afraid of, as Togo has not made any friends with threatened boycotts, coaching situation, etc.

Will be hard for officials to acct. for 3 French goals though

Alright - taking a nice hedge with France -1.5 +125 at the half

Not quite sure why as it looks like Les Bleus pisses all over themselves when they get the ball in the box

Adding:

Togo + .5 2nd Half +330 - small play to cover hedge (ridiculous i know)

If France wins by 1 i lose both 2nd half wagers but still not bad - really pulling for Togo to get a result

Another disclaimer - not a soccer fan regularly - just paying a lot of attention due to WC2006....................

Pulled in a nice middle with Togo - France -- Togo goaltender was in the zone - if not for him it could have been 3-0 at the half - after 1st goal Togo was kind of shocked - seems like they were playing for 0-0 tie - anyway, worked out well, so....

Equador - will bet it every way covering all other bets and a little bit more with +1.5 -172 - from all that I've seen and all that I read, this seems pretty solid - +720 doesn't seem right here - England on a lot of highlight reels, mainly due to goal of tourney thus far by Cole, and are obviously being overvalued by the public - from what i see England seems to have aging stars (see France) and will be playing against a hungry squad who regularly plays against very stiff competition who is far more capable than a squad like Togo the other day - throw out the match against Germany, they didn't need it - they DOMINATED otherwise - another proposed David facing a proposed Goliath with a WIN on it's mind and looking to make a name for itself

Thinking about 10 units +1.5 -172 and sprinkling 5 units around on everything else (all + lines, straight in reg. and to advance) - funny thing is with live betting if there is no score in the 1st 20 min. there are great hedging opps. - gl all looking for a straight up winner here

Good Luck - LAB
