Thoughts on NH Debates

GOP

Huckabee - Didn't make much of an impression.

Romney - McCain and Co ganged up on him, and he didn't have much in the way of comebacks. His constant smirk is annoying as hell and makes him seem cocky. I really liked his comment about healthcare for everyone, using a guy that makes $100k as his example....:mj07: I think this is the end of him.

McCain - I don't agree with him on the issues, but I really liked his performance. He made Romney look like a turd.

Paul - Widely ignored by the panel, but I definitely liked everything he had to say. He brings up great points (such as the cost of oil being tied to our dropping dollar) but nobody would debate with him. I really hope he gets to go one-on-one with somebody so he can force these typical politicians to answer the questions a lot of us have.

Thompson - He made some nice jabs at Romney, and made a couple of good points on healthcare, but he is just an also-ran. I don't see him lasting much longer.

Giuliani - Seemed like he was on the defensive when he did speak. His days are numbered.


DEMOCRATS

Obama - He speaks well and holds his own, but I never really feel like he says anything important.

Clinton - I think she did really well. She focused on her record of change versus the other candidates' talk of change. She did well IMO.

Edwards - I don't think he hurt himself. It was pretty obvious early on that he wanted to go after Hillary.

Richardson - He just doesn't seem to belong.

I was very impressed with Paul. He was the only one out there speaking the truth. It seemed so typical that he would say something opposite of what everyone else on the panal was saying and they would just ignore it. They would smirk and make faces but no one wanted to take him on.
On the dem side, and first of all I have to say I think they had a republican do their make up, but besides that I was impressed with Richardson. I don't think he has a chance but I liked a lot of what he said.

I liked the Dem depate better for onr reason. With just 4 in debate it allowed more time for each. And seemed to be able to cover more ground.

All the Reps are dumber than dirt, but Romney and huckleberry are by far the smartest of the group--meaning that they could probably walk and chew gum at the same time, but it would be a chore for either one of them...
Just thought gardenweasel had it out for Ron Paul until seeing him on that stage last night. Every time Paul had more than 15 seconds of airtime, he seemed to turn into a rat on crystal meth right before my eyes.
Paul also seemed to be channeling Ross Perot at times...:nono:

Thinking that the Dem's race is all but over with Obama sealing the deal come Feb 5th--Edwards had his head so far up Obama's a$$ last night it was sickening to watch(angling for that vice-prez gig) and Richardson will make a decent Ambassador to some place like Belize where he will never be heard from again...:mj07:

Ron Paul's the only one who could change the country. Shut down the Fed, make the superrich hidden elite work for their money, rather than print it out of thin air and steal normal folks' purchasing power. Hard money would also make it virtually impossible to start crazy foreign wars. The other candidates know all this, but their campaign support comes from the warmongers and inflation thieves.

As a resident of New Hampshire and a registered Independent, I will be voting in the Republican primary Tuesday, but I am still undecided...

GOP

Huckabee - I don't know why he is in Republican party, he seems like a liberal Republican if that is possible...

Romney - Did not perform too well. I agree with his "current" position on a lot of the issues, but I can't vote for him in the primary. As a former Mass. resident and current Mass. state employee, I do not like a lot of stuff he did while Governor. He will say he did not raise taxes, but a lot of the Fees in the state skyrocketed!

McCain - I thought he did well and I voted for him 8 years ago, but he will NOT be getting my vote Tuesday. I can not vote for him after that horrible Immigration bill he tried to push through with Kennedy, this past year.

Paul - Another one who may be in the wrong party. His stance on Illegal Immigration is pretty good, but he is kind of a crackpot.

Thompson - I Love his position on Illegal Immigration. If you enforce the laws against employers who hire illegals, the jobs for illegals will dry up and they will leave. I am not sure if his heart is in this election or not. In New Hampshire I have not seen much from him. Of the Hundreds of commercials I have seen I can't remember any from him...

Giuliani - Going into the debate he was one of the top contenders for my vote, but after watching I don't think he is strong enough on Illegal Immigration.


If you can't tell, Illegal Immigration is a very big issue for me. I think this affects so many different issues such as National Security, the cost of Health Care, Education Costs, Employment for Citizens, etc. Another thing I think we must stop is automatic Citizenship for the children of Illegals born in this country. This does not make sense to me.

Agree with your assessment Gmroz. Romney is such a little dweeb. Constantly smirking and moving around, I wanted to stick him. Paul looked like me sitting up there with 6-5, DTB and Gardenweasel. :mj07:

Most people don't understand that a system of hidden control exists. That's where the Ron Paul campaign is valuable. And the people Ron Paul attracts are young and full of energy. When they see him get mocked and screwed, kept out of debates and such, they will learn a valuable lesson.

I was exagerating, but he is not an economic conservative. He is also very weak on crime, too many pardons and commutations.

I was disspointed in the Republican debates. Whenever Ron Paul would make a statement the other candidates would just laugh at him. Do we want a president who laughs at others with opposing opinions, or do we want someone who will debate them head on? It just showed the flaws in character of the other candidates, with their stubborn Bush-like attitude. They may try and hold Ron Paul back by not including him in debates and mocking him when he is there, but this reall y just makes him and his followers stronger. He's not going away and will likely run as an independant as the money keeps pouring in.

Lousiest performance from Edwards...hard to take a $50M lawyer constantly championing class warfare..and if he mentioned his Pop or grandma working in the mills one more time I was gonna puke.

McCain is coming on and I am glad. Romney is pussilanamous. Watch on You tube as he refused to answer the question of a kid dying of MD who wants to use pot to help his condition. It sums him up perfectly.

I hope you guys are right on Paul. I think the only chance he has is as an Independent candidate. He needs to make that decision/move quickly because his image is taking a pounding while he gets disrespected and ignored by his own party and flagship station (FOX News).

Paul is on record as not running an independent campaign (again), but I love watching these guys squirm around him. They have no options for a frontal assault, and cannot really outflank him on the right.........still a pipe-dream, but he is an uncomfortable sensation in their backside, huh? Ludicrous for Fox to freeze him out. Seems a bit pussilanamous (sic)............I had to look that up. Anyone know if thats the etymology of pussy?
