Thoughts on San Jose tonight

I guess it comes from my roots, but I hate laying odds using the puckline. I play nearly every game using the moneyline (even though the chalk gets high).

In looking at San Jose tonight I don't even see a moneyline up on this game yet. Looks like the only option right now is -1 1/2 even. While I think San Jose will easily win the game, I am hesitant to lay -1 1/2.

What are some other thoughts on this game?

Some places now starting to put up SJ - .5 -230. Whew. That beats -1.5, but I am guessing the straight ML is going to be around -280 or more (if and when I find it somewhere).

With a total on the game of 5, laying -1.5 just seems huge.

I have actually seen it as high as -400, NCU! I would not lay -1.5 on this game, and rarely do I ever lay that. That is just me. Occasionally on an elite team vs. crap (which TB arguably is). They are good, but I don't view SJ as an elite team. TB has a decent goalie and gets Lecavlier back after his hold out which could conceivably give them a boost offensively. About the goalie, I noticed they are referring to this year as "the start of the Khabibulin era" in their promos during broadcasts!

Seems a bit of a stretch. Since your asking, I would pass on this one with that kind of vig.

Thanks, SJ.

I went ahead and played it at -.5 -230. That sounded really high until I saw the moneyline.

Good points you make. This is more a play against TB than on SJ.

Good luck to you tonight and thanks for the input.
