Thoughts on the Boston Situation

would love to hear thoughts on this especially from cooz and the other Boston backers....


The starting rotation is getting a bit crowded with kIm coming aborad and although the main purpose to get Kim was to stop the bullpen bleeding I think he should remain a starter. He likes to start and was relieved he was taken out of the closer role and knew very well he would have to get an impressive start tonight to show he could start and was beat up in his first relief appearence. This of course would not solve the closer problems but what about Burkett?

I know he is a different pitcher from Smoltz but if Kim were to become a starter he would be the one to get bumped and it's better than releasing him and eating the contract when the sox could at least give him a shot, they have for everyone else. What about Lowe if I remember correctly he was a closer in the past and had some decent years. He is having a tough go of things so far and would be the perfect option to go to with experience.

Just something I was thinking about as Kim was throwing a good game.

SCOOP...DONT THINK YOU CAN TAKE HIM OUT OF THE STARTING ROTATION AFTER THAT START TODAY...EVENTUALLY SOX MAY HAVE TOO...BUT RIGHT NOW JUST LET HIM PITCH AS A STARTER...

I ALSO DONT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC OF JUST DROPPING BURKETT...I UNDERSTAND HE IS VERY INCONSISTENT ..AND DOWNRIGHT TERRIBLE AT TIMES....BUT I HAVE SEEN HIM PITCH A GREAT 5 OR 6 INNINGS THEN JUST GET SHELLED...I THINK THEY SHOULD TRY HIM OUT AS A LONG RELIEVER....RATHER THAN JUST EAT THAT CONTRACT...I MEAN WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO LOSE?...


LOWE...WELL DONT THINK HE HAS THE MAKEUP TO BE A CONSISTENT CLOSER...HE MENTALLY IS JUST WEAK...GETS ABD CALL ...YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT THE REST OF THE NIGHT....BUT IF HE CONTTINUES TO STRUGGLE AS A STARTER REDSOX WILL EVENTUALLY HAVE TO MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT TO DO WITH HIM...BUT I REALY DONT THINK HE IS A PLAYER YOU CAN MOVE FROM STARTER TO CLOSER TO STARTER TO CLOSER ETC....MENTALLY HE WOULD JUST NOT BE TOUGH ENOUGH...

WATCH THIS KID ALMONTE THEY JUST BROUGHT UP...HE HAS A GREAT SEASON IN AAA...IF HE CAN PITCH EFFECTIVELY THAT WOULD BE A HUGE BOOST TO THIS TEAM....FOX SHOULD BE COMING BACK SOON...NOT SURE IF THATS GOOD NEWS..LOL...AND HOPEFULLY LYONS CAN GET GOING...
