Never really gambled consistently on hockey in the past. However, I do follow it very closely. I'm a huge fan and would like to consider myself pretty knowledgable of the game. After reading some articles on the rule changes and listening to some people voice opinions on here, I believe more than anything especially early in the season the team's with the best PP and PK will be winning the games. The reasons for this being two fold:
1. Refs will be whistle happy to prove to fans and the players that the new rules and the NHL's commitment to a more exciting and fast paced game are for real.
2. Therefore I look for alot and maybe even the majority of games to be played on special teams.
So, what does this all mean for picking games? I will be looking closely at which teams have the elite, but also depth in players on PP and PK.
Also, I believe that Dogs will be very profitable for the first few weeks as books shuffle their power rankings. This has been pretty much the sense I've gotten from reading other posts and I completely agree.
Good luck and let's make this a profitable season.
