"During this holy month, my prayers each day go out to the hundreds and thousands of men, women, children and soldiers that have died, been abandoned and are now living homeless and in fear in Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Pakistan. Due to several wars on terror, it brings tears to my eyes to learn of the despair that is plaguing the Islamic countries; countries that once (not too long ago) exercised much power and prosperity. I can't help but shake my head in awe as my dad educates me on the political and civil unrest that is spreading in these countries like wild fire. Unrest that is triggered by the greed of outside forces to gain hegemony of a 'New World Order.' Conspiracies aside, for what ever reason this so called war on terror may be happening, the bottom line is that people, innocent people, muslims or not, are dying. And the living, unable to escape, are breathing air is mixed with smoke and human ashes of their brothers and sisters.
What really leaves a trail of goosebumps down my back is knowing the current brutality that is taking place in Burma against Muslims. "Wait, what's happening where," you may ask? Don't worry, until recently, I myself had very little knowledge of it. You know why? Because this time, Muslims are the ones being hunted, targeted, tortured and killed in the most gruesome ways. All because they are guilty of belonging to a certain faith. Why should the greater media publicize matters in which Muslims are the victims of a genocide? Why should they announce it as "Breaking News" and have it run on every news channel for months? No, they should not. Because Muslims are the bad guys, not worthy of peoples' sympathy. Terrorist attacks that "somehow" always end up getting traced back to Muslims have susceptible minds convinced that we are all just a bunch of crazy extremists wanting to terrorize the Western world. The heavily influenced media and products of cleverly plotted political schemes have injected so much hate and disgust against the Islamic community that when we cry for help, only but a few answer. It's true, there are some among others who have extremists views and wear the ninja suit (for example) to identify themselves as such. But one very important thing to note is that such people have adapted a story of faith
- also called "religion" - that has been modified over the years by their cultures and bred by misogynistic views of muslim men in power. Such views are NOT the true representation of what Islam is. Nonetheless, only a handful of people remain who are willing to look past this ignorant ideology and accept us as normal human beings who carry out their practices without a single train of violent thought. Therefore, it is our duty to know our faith, well enough to be able to educate others on who we are - People who also love cats.
I have much to learn and I'm going to make it my goal to know the fundamental teachings of my faith, so that when asked, I am able to represent and speak for the Islamic community accurately and in a positive light once again. I also pray that God gives me strength beyond my capability of just giving charity, to one day, help those suffering and desperately in need. Ameen"
And of course, there's also THIS. And don't worry about upsetting the Lord, Jesus was always approving of education and empowerment.
Any moron can quote scripture to support their sentiments, but it is much more difficult to live like Christ.
