THREE PLAYS TONIGHT

1) Nuggets - Rockets

Quick Facts:
Nuggets 3-7 SU and 6-3-1 ATS in last 10 vs. Rockets
Nuggets 3-1 ATS in last 4 away games vs. the Rockets
Nuggets 3-1 ATS and 3-1 SU since the All Star Break
Nuggets 8-9 ATS on the road vs. western conference teams

Rockets 1-4 ATS and 3-2 SU since the All Star Break
Rockets 3-14 ATS at home vs. western conference teams

The Breakdown:
The Rockets are a struggling team that does not look like they even care to make the playoffs right now. Since the All Star Break, they have only covered one spread, and it was when they played against the rebuilding Magic in Orlando. The Rockets were favored by 3.5 and won by 5. I?m not impressed.

The Nuggets are on an upward swing. In 2005 the Nuggets finished the season after the All Star Break with a 24-4 record. The Nuggets are barely holding on to the 3rd spot in the Western Conference and as May approaches they will continue to turn up the heat. Kenyon Martin is finally playing near his potential ? he has been averaging 20.4 ppg and 11.4 rebounds in the last 5 games he has played. The Nuggets court presence has improved with the additions of Evans for rebounding energy and Patterson for game intensity.

In the last game in Houston, the Nuggets beat the Rockets on a game winning shot. However, Yao didn?t play for the Rockets and Camby and Martin didn?t play for the Nuggets. With all Denver?s bigs, I expect them to be able to contain Yao.

Look for the Nuggets to win this one straight up, but I?ll still take the points.

2) Magic ? Suns

Quick Facts:
Suns 3-1 O/U since the All Star Break
Magic 3-3 O/U since the All Star Break
Magic vs. Suns 5-1 O/U in last 6 games

Breakdown:
Look for another bombardment of points from the Suns tonight. This is the fifth game in 8 nights (fouth in 6 nights) for the Magic and they will not be able to defend the frantic up and down court scurrying of the Suns. The Magic have shown their ability to score against porous defense also this year, so look for them to put up a fair share of the total as well.

3) Clippers ? Jazz

Quick Facts:
Clippers 15-12 ATS away
Clippers 8-6 ATS away vs western conference teams
Clippers 3-2 ATS since the All Star Break
Clippers 5-0 ATS in last 5 games vs. Jazz

Jazz 11-17 ATS home
Jazz 5-10 ATS at home vs western conference teams
Jazz 2-3 ATS since the All Star Break

The facts speak for themselves. The Clippers are maintaining a playoff spot and the playoff dreams of the Jazz are fading away. The Clippers will take full advantage of AK being out of the lineup tonight in Utah to deliver another blow to the Jazz ego. Despite missing a big man themselves, the Clippers will take advantage of their natural talent to route the Jazz and send them closer to the draft lottery.
