Been licking my chops waiting for this one. Found me a 2 and pounded it. Biggest play of the year so far for me, right at home in the MVC.
What a difference a year makes. Under Lowery they couldn't get anyone to come to the games, now Hinson has won over Carbondale and the energy is back with this program. Sure is great to see. I have been fading my alma mater for a few years and finally find some value in the Dawgs. Was at the game last week vs UNI and boy are they looking strong. Salukis have won 6 of their last 8 su and covered 7 of their last 8. Along the way they beat Wichita State, UNI, SW MO, Aces, Drake and Miami O. The lone ats loss down the stretch came to Miami Ohio as an 8' pt fav. This has to be the most they have given in a couple years?? One of the two su loses came at Indiana State losing by 1 as a 10 point dog (should have won this game). These two teams split on the season (home/home) with SIU winning the most recent at home by 8. They shot a pathetic 16% from 3 pt land in this game and still won by 8... Hinson has this team fired up and believing. The 10th seed, yes, but probably the hottest team and at the right time too! SIU started conf play going 1-10 and their offense looked like shit. Team is now playing a very unselfish style of basketball and it is fun to watch. LAst time vs the Bears Early scored 20 and Desmar had 11, expect both to contribute as much or more as both are playing great ball right now. Also expect Pendleton to see more minutes.
Right time, right place, i love SIU to get it done in this one.
Added motivation....Barry Hinson was very successful in this tourney back when he was coaching this same team he looks to knock off tomorrow night. He wants this one bad
