Hernandez delivers a fastball in the upper 80s, a slow curve, slider and plus changeup. He'll alter the speeds on any of his pitches and has great instincts for throwing what the hitter isn't expecting. Occasionally, he'll drop his arm angle to offer a different look and to add lateral movement to his fastball and slider. Generally, Hernandez has good control around the edges of the plate, but when it's off the hits come in bunches. He's not afraid to come inside, but anything he doesn't bury tends to get crushed
