LA Dodgers (Nomo) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (Fogg)

Well interesting matchup here and we are going to be taking the under! These two pitchers have combined for 2 overs and 5 unders so far this year.

The Dodgers send Hideo Nomo to the mound who since getting pounded by the Giants in his first start has really been impressive he has 2 starts on the road going 1-1 with a very solid ERA of 0.64 and a WHIP of 1.000, in 14 innings pitched on the road he has only given up 8 hits and faces a offensively challenged Pirates squad today.

The Pirates counter with Josh Fogg who has been a pleasant surprise so far this year in 3 starts he is 2-0 with an ERA of 1.89 in 19 innings pitched allowing 14 hits fanning 14 and walking 7 this is first start against the Dodgers.

Both bullpens have been rock solid Pittsburgh's boast an ERA at home of 3.18 in 34 innings pitched with 37 K's, 11 walks and only 1 homerun. The Dodgers bullpen has been equally impressive with a road ERA of 2.48 in 29 innings pitched striking out 13 and walking 5 while giving up 2 homeruns.

The homeplate umpire John Hirschbeck has long been known for being a strong pitchers umpire so far this year he has called 5 games with 3 overs and 2 unders last year he posted a record of 10 overs and 21 unders so I really like our chances here to get the under.

Playing Under 8.5 -120.

It came through easily

It came through easily

Got a bit nervous there in the 8th inning, but I mean, after that it was smooth sailing. The Pirates are pretty good for a bad team.

Thanks Robert, I can't wait for your play tomorrow.

good job, wish i would have woken up sooner!! btw, hirshbeck clearly illustrates why knowing home plate umps is so crucial in baseball as his "gynormous" zone can take over a game...later:)

I think that both Hirschbeck and his brother break out the enormous strike zone, which is nice. I like playing the under when these guys are out there, but sometimes it backfires and the guys actually start to swing the bats, since nobody likes to get punched out.

I'd never play a game just based on the home-plate umpire, but I like it that it was one of the last factors that RBIrish considered.
