YTD 29-14 (+1550)
There is nothing on the afternoon card that I liked too much, but I thought I would get tonight's plays in at lunch:
LOS ANGELES DODGERS (+120) The Dodgers need to come out of their funk, having lost 6 in a row. Ishii scares me in that his strikeout to walk ratio is horrendous, however, he has been avoiding real trouble, and hasn't given up more than 2 ERs in a start in a month. On the other hand, the Phillies will be without Jim Thome again tonight, and the stat that jumped out at me about Brett Myers is the number of hits he has surrendered this year: 47 hits in only 33.1 IP! That has potential for trouble and the Phillie bullpen is a concern, particularly without Billy Wagner.
SEATTLE MARINERS (-138) I really hope I don't regret laying this much chalk with a struggling team that can't score runs, but Jamie Moyer has owned the Orioles in his career, going 14-2 with a sporty 3.09 ERA, while Rodrigo Lopez is 0-2 with a 4.60 ERA against the Mariners.
YANKEES / ANGELS over 9.5 (-110) Mussina doesn't scare anyone anymore and Colon has given up 50 hits this year, including 9 dingers. I think the potential is here for some runs to be put up, even if the Halo lineup is a little banged up. Besides, the over is a perfect 6-0 when Rex is at the park.
(How's that for some handicapping?)
Good Luck today,
Sharky
