Buffalo at New York Islanders.....................................................................

Buff is 9-17-4 away (24-29-8 on season)
NYI is 14-12-5 at home (30-24-7 on season)

Teams have met once this season. Buff won at NYI 4-2 (12/1). Biron/Osgood. NYI had defensive breakdowns and hi emotions with captain Peca's first game against former team.

Buffalo won previous five meetings (back to 3/2000). All those went under.

Biron is 4-0-0 vs NYI, 1.00 gga, .995 pct
Osgood is 5-3-1 vs Buff 2.07 gga, .913

Sabres 3-3-4 last 10, and 1-1-3 last five on road
NYI 5-3-2 last 10, and 3-1-1 last five at home

Buffalo under hits 17-9-4 on road
NYI under hits 12-14-5 at home

NYI PP has slipped to anemic 4.3 last five games

Buffalo is in 12 place in Conference. Need to win about 14 of last 20 games to get in playoffs. So losing hope.

Sabres' coach Ruff put them thru very grueling workout other day after "unacceptable" 0-3 loss to Oilers sez here:

http://www.buffnews.com/editorial/20020306/1040448.asp

Buffalo at home next game, take on MTL tomorrow.
NYI next is to Columbus tomorrow.

Calgary at Philadelphia

Calgary at Philadelphia

Calgary 10-15-5 away
Phila is 16-9-3 at home

no meetings yet this season. 2 last season, each team winning on home ice.

Calgary played last nite, tonight is 3rd game in 4 nights. They then get 1 day rest and to Boston to continue 9 game road trip. 1-1 so far. Beat NYR, lost to WA.

Phila plays tomorrow at Tampa Bay

Calgary on 0 days rest is 2-7-1, and 1-2 on 0 day after a loss.
Phila is 5-5-3 on 2 days rest, and 3-4-3 on 2 day after a win

Phila's PP has slipped to 4.8 last five.

Boucher should start, and is playing for his job sez Chuck Gormley of Courier-Post here:

"With Cechmanek sidelined at least another week with a sprained right ankle, Boucher is expected to start back-to- back games - Thursday night at home against the Calgary Flames and Friday night in Tampa against the Lightning. Those games will be followed by consecutive meetings with the Maple Leafs - Sunday at home and Tuesday night in Toronto.

If Boucher (14-9-1, 2.49 GAA) returns to the form he showed in Boston, he will provide Barber with an option if Cechmanek stumbles down the stretch or in a playoff series. But if Boucher struggles in this next handful of games, it could mark the beginning of the end of his career in Philadelphia"

and Gormley has injury update:

"Barber said Keith Primeau's rib injury is not considered serious and that if he misses Thursday night's game Kent Manderville will be inserted as a fourth-line center, bumping up centers Marty Murray and Jiri Dopita.

Left wing Ruslan Fedotenko is expected to miss another week with a sprained right knee. Todd Fedoruk is expected to take his spot in the lineup Thursday. "

Carolina at Pittsburg

Carolina at Pittsburg

Carolina is 15-14-4 away
Pitt is 14-15-2 at home

Teams have met three times this season. A 2-2 tie at Carolina (11/6), then Carolina blanked Pitt at Mellon Arena 7-0 (12/16), and last was 3 all tie at Carolina (2/5).

Thus 'Canes went 1-0-2 and in these meetings outshot Pitt 122-65.

Carolina on 1 day rest is 13-17-8, and are 6-12-5 after a win. over is 19-16 on 1 day.
Pitt is 14-12 on 1 day, and 8-4 after a win. over is 12-10

'Canes over hits 18-8 away
Pitt over wins 17-12 at home

Carolina PP last five has dropped to 6.9, Pitt has climbed to 23.5

Pitt has scored 20 goals in their 5 games since Olympic break

Carolina 5-3-2 last 10 games, 3-0 last 3 (beat--on road--Boston, Montreal and Chicago)

Pitt is 3-6-1 last 10, and 3-1 last four (beat FL, NYI and Columbus)

Pitt now has Lang out with broken bone in hand, and Straka probably not back in until Saturday.

'Canes lead SE Division by 8 points over WA.
Pitt is only five points behind NYR for final playoff spot.

Tom Barrasso "will likely start" sez 'Canes official site. Makes sense. He has played one game against his former team--blanked them in that 7-0 rout.

Carolina ends this 8 game road swing tonight, goes home to face WA tomorrow.

Pitt tomorrow at home take on NYR.

Trends for above games, more Pitt news

Trends for above games, more Pitt news

I'm awake now!
That was my e-mail H. Gotta research more winners to eliminate that deficit!

Buffalo at Carolina.........................................................................

NYI 7-4 ATS after loss by 2 goals or more
NYI 15-23 ATS as a favorite (don't I know that)
NYI over hits 20-15 as a favorite
NYI over hits 14-8 in second half of this season

Calgary at Philadelphia...........................................................................

Calgary 4-1 ATS this season as road dog of 1 goal or more. (12-2 last 3 seasons, and 26-4 since '96 !!)

Phila is 6-3 ATS as home favorite of 1 goal or more this season.

Phila over hits 6-1 when home favorite of 1 goal or more this season.

Calgary is playing 2nd nite of b/b nites (on road), and 3rd game in 4th nite. Teams in such situation have won 28.72% this season (thanks silentCDN)

Carolina at Pittsburg...........................................................................

Carolina over wins 10-3 in road games with 5.5 line this season
Pitt over is 15-8 in second half of season
Pitt has scored 20 over last five games, and allowed 19.

Carolina is 4-1 ATS vs Pitt at Pitt last 3 seasons.

Pitt has Lang out with broken hand. He's seconding leading scorer, but Kovalev and Hrdina have been getting most lately. And Straka maybe tonight. Story here

http://www.post-gazette.com/Penguins/20020307pens3.asp

And another reason 'Canes are using Barrasso tonight is to showcase him for possible trade. It's up to him now to show he's worth millions. And article discussing this also sez Pitt coach not sure on Hedberg tonight, tho reporter guesses so.

Terryray,

The game between Cal and Phi is a tought one to cap. Both teams seem to be playing well lately, yet Cal always plays tough on the road, but we all know how Phi plays at home. I looked at this game yesterday for a good 30 minutes but I am on the fence on this opne. What is your take on it if you are making a wager on this game?

Thanks

More on Flyers

More on Flyers

If I were betting this game, and I'm definitely not!, I would parlay Phil -.5 with STL -.5. Calgary should be tired, and Boucher sharper than usual. Calgary tends to lose in bunches. Phila is 10-0-1-2 in last 13 home games, and Calgary 0-2-1 last 3 visits to Phila.

But Calgary is only 5 points off final playoff spot in Conference. So will be very tough, need all the points they can get.

lean toward the over.

Still not sure if Flyers captain Primeau will play. This from morning paper by Tim Panaccio:

"Flyers coach Bill Barber said he wouldn't rush Keith Primeau (strained ribs) back into the lineup. He said Primeau would skate today and see how he felt. If Primeau doesn't play tonight, Marty Murray will center for Brashear and Recchi."

LA's Storr is 5-1-1 on road this season. tho 1-3-0 vs Nash in career. (Potvin has not started b/b nites this season).

Only 3 of LA's final 19 games are against opponents with losing records.

LA will get a big emotional boost tonight with return of injured coach Murray.

LA next game is to rival Colorado saturday.
Nash next to FL sat.

............trends....All ATS...........................

LA is 15-6 in road games with totals of 5 or less

LA is 20-11 against opponents with losing records.
