ive still got stuff that will be occupying my time for the next week or so, and i will be back for the conference tournaments. but ill be damned if i go out on some bullshit like last night.

nothings worse than capping a game inside and out. doing the necessary due dilligence.

........ and then having the leading scorer and rebounder in the horizon walk out on the team before the final two home games of his career.

completely mind-boggling.

As if playing tough but losing to Loyola, 67-63, on Wednesday night at the Wolstein Center was not hard enough to deal with, the Vikings lost without senior forward Omari Westley. CSU's leading scorer, one of the top players in the Horizon League, was not in uniform because he decided to jump the Vikings' ship

"There was a violation of team rules and the young man didn't agree with it," said CSU coach Mike Garland, whose club dropped to 9-15 overall and 6-9 in the league. "He took off, left, and I haven't seen or heard from Omari in the last two days.

"I'm supposed to meet with him tomorrow and we will discuss his future at CSU for the remainder of the year. That's all I'm going to say."

CSU Sports Information Director Brian McCann said legal issues were not involved.

Westley, a Shaw High graduate, could not be reached for comment. He came in averaging 17.1 points, good for third in the conference, and was the league's leading rebounder at 8.3 boards per game.

playing this one tonight. im sure stewart of pruitt will sprain an ankle going through layup lines in pregame.

southern cal (+5.5) over ucla

trojans had dominated this series recently until an epic fold job a few weeks ago at home allowed ucla to come back from an 18-point halftime deficit. now i know that 'usc hoops' and 'pride' is a bit of an awkward juxtaposition but i think they'll atone for that collapse. trojans actually have played pretty well the last 3 games. im content to make usc my last play for the regular season.

It appears Lorenzo Mata for UCLA won't be playing tonight (injury in practice). He hurt USC big time with 8pts 4 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 13min.

The Pac 10 freshman of the year will be decided tonight. USC has 2 players running for it and UCLA has 1.

Lastly, USC has a "chance" to earn the 8th seed in the Pac 10 tourney. So there is some extra motivation for USC in addition to the rivalry.

Good luck on your play. I think I just might root for your pick to not only to cover but to win outright. :)

Gman, I respect your picks more than just about anyone on this site, but I just can't see the Trojans going into Pauley and covering.

Scott4USC, is right all of a sudden the very talented HUGELY unmotivated Trojan squad has a something to play for, #8 in the PAC and a possible PAC-10 tourney birth. However UCLA basically needs to win out and likely get at least 1 win in the PAC-10 tourney to feel good about making it into the big dance.

Lorenzo Mata being out will have little to absolutely zero effect on this game. Though Lorenzo has a bright future in Westwood (arguably the ugliest player in NCAA D-1 hoops) his minutes played are very sparingly.

Frosh of the year is completely irrelevant considering no one stood out that much, and if so that award will go to Jordan Farmar or Malik Harriston of Oregon.

Huge rivalry game, the game means alot for UCLA tourney chances. Gman I ride your coat tails on about every game you play, including Cleve St. last night, however tonight I'd have to say UCLA -5.5 as one of my top plays.

i think trojans have a lot of internal issues going with new coaching staff dictating coach saia to play frosh and sit 2 seniors. play looks good on paper but not in reality. like bruins tonite as they are playing for something meaningful.

appreciate the honest replies. just to clarify, this isnt a big play for me. (this is usc after all). im really just looking to head into my week or so off on a good note. im still shaking my head over the fact that westley just bailed on the team like that and didnt even show up at the gym for the game. when i lose, im man enough to step up and say i fu.cked up. but yesterday is an exception. its not every day that one of the best players in the league just 'suspends himself' and doesnt show up at the arena. and the kid wonders why pro scouts are intrigued by his immense talent but totally thrown off by his bullshit attitude. but i digress. back to the usc game. i certainly cant speak for internal issues on the trojans. i just dont trust ucla to run away with this. usc has been garbage for a few years now but pretty much have ucla's number for the time being. i guess we'll see. pac-10 not my strongest area but willing to take a small shot

Ugiest player - You are dead on. Guy can collect some offensive boards and stick backs, but I doubt you'll see him on the cover of the media guide in the next 3 years.

GL with your play, GMAN.
