won't get a chance to post my early games tomorrow (stupid work!), so here they are...

was it last year that the favorites dominated the first day? that was a brutal day for a lot of us here. i hope we don't see a repeat. you know, except for my first game.

lsu (-2) 1 unit. not 100% sure what to make of this game. obviously 'the best team in the sec' isn't saying much this year. but butler has definitely dropped a notch without the dead-eye shooting of aj graves. that guy had icewater in his veins. so i'm going with the tigers here.

northern iowa (+8) 1 unit. not a bad matchup for the panthers. i think purdue is the best team in the big ten this year (again, not saying much), but they'll play a style in which northern iowa is very comfortable. i think the boilermakers put a lot into winning the big ten tournament, and may come out a little flat here.

maryland (+1.5) 1 unit. according to the numbers, cal should be laying 3.5. maryland is so inconsistent, but i'll take the acc over the pac 10.

Thursday Night

Thursday Night

just a warning... if i keep this up, i'm going pay next year. :) (if that statement doesn't jinx me, nothing will) if not for the 3-ponter at the end of the georgetown/baylor game, i'd be 5-0 the last two days.

NIT

rhode island (+1) 2 units. penn state has had a very good season, but it ends tonight. the last couple nittany lion wins saw talor battle (local kid from my area) have a chance to win the game, turn the ball over, then get another chance and make good. no second chances tonight. hopefully not even a first chance.

this is shocking, but a strong lean to notre dame tonight. can't quite pull the trigger though.

NCAA

vcu (+8) 3 units. watch me give back everything i won this afternoon on one play. really love the rams here though. eric maynor is a great basketball player. he understands he needs to get his teammates involved first, then he'll start picking up the scoring if necessary. simply not the same ucla team as we're used to seeing. of course, losing kevin love after one year has a lot to do with that.

morgan state (+15.5) 2 units. the bears already have a win at maryland this year. this is not a bad team. and i'm hearing some rumblings of turmoil within the oklahoma sooners... one player stole another players girlfriend which is, naturally, causing some issues. and apparently blake griffin has done some local interviews stating that he's carrying the team (not exactly a stretch, but you don't need to say it), and teammates aren't exactly loving that. so i think we have a good opportunity to go against the sooners here.

western kentucky (+5) 3 units. my biggest concern here is that this is too easy. according to the numbers, illinois should be laying 10. this is a talented, if inconsistent, hilltopper team. and i just have not been impressed by illinois this year. the loss of frazier (i'm assuming he's out; i haven't heard anything new the last 2 days) will really hurt here. i expect wku to win this game.
