ST JOE's -6 1/2.........Saint Joseph's, at 17-10, posted a 14-2 Atlantic 10 record, to earn the top overall seed in the conference tournament. SJU won its fifth straight A-10 East regular-season title, matching UMass' record of five consecutive from 1991 to 1996.......It marks the second year in a row that the Hawks have been the top seed in the conference tourney....... St Joe's is led by Atlantic 10 co player of the year, Pat Carroll...ended the regular season as the Hawks' leading scorer at 17.3 ppg...also led the A-10 in scoring in league games with a 19.5 ppg average...A-10's all-time leader in career three-point field goal percentage, Carroll led the league again this year with at 45.4%........The Hawks also boast the A-10 Defensive player of the year in Dwayne Jones.....he ended the regular season as the Conference's leading rebounder at 11.5 ppg...also selected to the All-Conference second-team, the 6-11 native of Chester, PA, leads the league in blocks with 83...had 21 games of 10 rebounds or more and 14 double-doubles - both tops in the Atlantic 10.....St Joe's has beaten Richmond twice this year by double digits. The Hawks come in winning 6 out of their last 7, while the Spiders have only won 3 out of their last 8.
