Last week FAU with only 7 returning starters played Kansas tough wire to wire and Kansas did not cover the lofty spread. On the other side, Oklahoma St struggled mightily at D-1 AA Montana last week. These results have led many to believe that Oklahoma St sucks and that FAU can play them tough like they did Kansas.
Oklahoma St was disappointed in their performance at Montana. They admitted they did not prepare as hard as they should have and took Montana for granted. Kansas did the same thing against FAU last week which is why FAU hung tight throughout the game. Last week's narrow win at Montana was a wake up call for them as they basically took the game as a loss. Their coach even said he had hoped to win the game 40-10 or so. It was also QB Donovan Wood's 1st time running the new spread offense which obviously hindered their production a bit. They are preparing twice as hard for this game and will come out ready to play. FAU's performance at Kansas was a moral victory for the young team and will undoubtedly give them a false sense of confidence entering their contest vs Oklahoma St in the national spotlight. I like the Cowboys to pull ahead early in this game and never let up or look back. They know they need to sharpen their offense against teams like this before conference play begins. I'll lay the chalk.
