UConn (-10.5) over UMass
UConn should dominate the "U" game! They have the size inside and the defensive presence. UConn has won 13 straight meetings and all 11 under Calhoun. The Huskies also enter with an 88-game winning streak against non-Big East opponents from New England. Common Opponent UMASS 84-68 loss / UCONN 97-60 win vs. Northeastern !!! UMASS does not have the depth to play at the pace UConn will for the whole game. Best player for UMASS is Freeman and the 6'9 forward will have his hands full with the big men of UConn all night. UConn has only been tested once all season and that was by Indiana. Still looking at UMass IMO this game will come down to big men and rebounds and the edge goes to UConn. The huskies will limit second chance opportunities. Calhoun always plays the New England schools well!
Illinois (-12.5) over G'Town
Fighting Illini have played tough teams early and showed they have the talent to be a contender come march. Roger Powell did not have a good game against Chicago and should rebound against the Hoyas. Illinois will have to contain Green..the guy is a monster! He plays almost the whole game. Key is to take the ball at him and get him out with foul trouble! He is their leading rebounder and one of their top point producers. Cook and Wallace will have their hands full with Brown and Head. Augustine should get the assignment of Green and he should be throwing his body at him all game. IMO G'Town just hasn't played this type of team and Ill should over power them. Too many guys that can get hot shooting!
