White Sox (Garland) @ Oakland (Halama)
Well we got a very nice win on the White Sox last night and we are going back to Oak Town for today's play. We are going to be playing the over in this game and I will give you some very good reasons for it.
The Sox send out John Garland today and he has been in a downward spiral his last 3 starts with an ERA of 7.43 and a bloated WHIP of 1.58 and this is not the team he needs to try and get back on track against as he has had allot of trouble when facing the A's. He is 1-1 against them with a very high ERA of 8.21 and a WHIP of 2.086 in just 7 innings of work against them with the over going 2-0.
Oakland will counter with john Halama who has also had allot of problems in his last 3 with an ERA of 5.14 and a whopping WHIP of 1.93, he has also had problems with the team he is facing today despite his 3-1 record against them as he has a 6.11 ERA and a WHIP of 1.393.
The Sox have been hitting left handed starters very well with a team batting average of .290 against them managing to plate 5.2 runs a game and are giving up 4.2 a game on defense. The bullpen has been shaky and tried to give it up last night they have an ERA of 4.35 on the road and a poor WHIP of 1.548 and that could spell trouble with garland only managing 5 innings a game on the road.
Oakland offensively can be explosive and face a pitcher they have hit hard in the past, they are managing to score 4.8 runs a game when facing right handed starters, they are playing good defense but have to play behind a pitcher that is just not hitting his stride. The bullpen has been solid but I think we get enough runs off of Halama for them not to be a factor in the total.
Home plate umpire Joe West is letting teams score an average of 11.14 runs a game, he has a strike out to walk ratio of just 1.95.
Bottom line is that we get two pitchers that are struggling and two teams with more than enough capabilities to score enough runs to hit this over.
