The Terrapins and Yellow Jackets kick off at Byrd Stadium tonight in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN.
This marks the fifth time in the past seven years the two teams meet on the popular Thursday night telecast. This also marks the 15th meeting between Georgia Tech and Maryland, with the Terps holding a commanding 10-4 advantage.
The Yellow Jackets (4-2 SU, 2-4 ATS) are coming off a bye week, and look to get back on track after a 21-24 setback at Wake Forest as 13-point favorites.
Georgia Tech will look to senior receiver Kerry Watkins, who leads the ACC with five receptions and 88 yards per game. He has 30 catches for 528 yards and three touchdowns this season.
Freshman Ajenavi Eziemefe has been deputizing at tailback following the season-ending injury to Tony Hollings. In three games, Eziemefe has run for 208 yards and two scores.
On the other side of the ball, Tech will look to its experienced secondary and linebacker corps. Junior Keyaron Fox leads the team with 49 tackles, and fellow linebackers Daryl Smith and Recardo Wimbush are right behind Fox with 45 and 38 tackles respectively.
Maryland (4-2 SU, 3-2 ATS) is also coming off a bye week. However, in its last contest, the Terrapins steamrolled over the West Virginia Mountaineers 48-17 for their most lopsided win in 20 years. The win marked the Terps' third victory in a row, and on Thursday they'll be looking for their first conference win of the season.
Maryland's defense is allowing a stingy 16.8 points per game, which ranks 14th in the nation and second in the ACC. The Terps' 'D' held opponents to just three touchdowns and a lowly 9.3 points per game over their past three contests.
The offense is led by junior pivot Scott McBrien, who has enjoyed a 176.9 QB rating over his past three games. He also completed 33-of-56 passes for 590 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions over that span.
McBrien will go up against a Georgia Tech stopping squad that has helped the 'under' profit in its last eight contests in which a 'total' was posted, dating back to last season.
The early line has Maryland as the -1 1/2-point 'chalk' and the 'total' is set at 55
