I think tightend has become a vastly underrated fantasy position with the way the league sets up, and a stud tightend can now carry u someweeks....if you have a guy who scores each week, huge advantage.....so my question is this:

Who besides the top guys are worth a start week 1 and rest of year?

Gronk
Graham
Gates
Davis
Finley
Hernandez

If u have them, u don't need to worry...

Who are good week 1 guys in 2nd/3rd tier...

Rudolph
Tamme
Cook
Clark
Pettigrew
Keller

Who is the guy to play?

I'm curious cause my one league has 2 tightends...I have graham/finley as starters, but obviously want some good backups for byes/injuries....

3 leagues I have

Hernandez/tamme

Gronk (will get backup after seeing weeks 1-2)

Graham/finley/rudolph

FDC and oldschool I know you know your shit. Waddya think?

Olsen has potential with shockey gone.

I like Olsen a lot but even though Cam Newton says he is going to make an effort to go to him more this year, I back off every time I hear that. Reason being, he is admitting it takes effort to look for him, Newton is young so it won't happen. Look to the QB when you are looking for a tight end. Then look to the O-line and that should give you a pretty good idea on who will be staying in to block all the damn time. I like Tamme because of Peyton, I love Martellius Bennett because of Eli and a good O-line. Both QB's understand the TE position. When Dallas had the WR's number, which they did, Wednesday, Eli went to Bennett. He gained a lot of confidence in that and Eli tends to stick to what he knows. Dustin Keller when healthy is always a good choice just due to the nature of the offense there. Talent wise I think that Jared Cook is the best in the league in two years so if you are in a keeper league, consider it. Kellen Davis from Chicago is the ultimate sleeper with 7 or 8 TDs last year he gets a lot of looks in the red zone and with Marshall and Jeffery there, he is going to surprise some guys. I also like Fleener in Indianapolis and the kid in Minny is a stud but their QB is still a question with me although he certainly has all the skills but I don't like their offensive line as much as Bleeding Purple does.

Dude, gimme a holler if you want to talk on the phone about this stuff. Jaek has my number or email me and i will send it to you.

Hope that helps,

Dallas Clarke had 100 receptions in 2009

find that QB who could read a "D" that quickly and start that tight end who plays w/him.

That is if that QB is still playing..:SIB

ya might even find that QB has moved on to a team where time clock control and ball security will be in high demand.

He might even have a pretty decent "D" on his side which will b e getting a lotta rest while this certain QB goes on 13-17 play drives that see the tight end having 3 catches for 25 yards and a TD.

look around..:SIB

Old School likes Tamme in other words. He is good and so is Pettigrew. Gresham was on top of everybody's draft boards along with Finley last year.

Gresham played himself all the way off everybody's draft board this year. He won't be on any team of mine but he is definitely a sleeper. All the talent, none of the brains.

FDC or oldschool or anyone else who is fantasy player...

Vick or Rivers....

browns are very underrated on the defensive side, although haden may be out....

Rivers has been great as far as completion % in preseason, and if he limits turnovers he is a stud....????????????????

vick could get 10 pts easy rushing...

FAWK so many decisons for week 1

I think that Old School is probably correct on this although I really really really like Rivers and I would never have this problem because I would never select Vick for any reason and I highly suggest you trade him after his first good game. If that means next week, so be it. He will ultimately screw you. Phillips may throw picks, but he throws and throws and throws and throws. You don't need rushing yards from a QB, they take away from your passing yards. Every yard on the ground was meant to go through the air and the chances of Vick breaking 100 yards rushing is not good.

Here is the deal, winning at this shit, as you know, takes scoring the bonus points each and every time with each and every player. A QB that runs for 50 yards and passes for 250 yards gets you 13 points or so. A QB that throws for 300 and rushes for none gets you 15-17.

I honestly think that Vick is a handicap to your lineup and here is why. When you have him, you are compelled to play him and you may lose points due to Phillips having a better game and it will take at least two bad games for you to pull him. By that time maybe he is hurt already. He will miss games this season no matter what, he always does. In my opinion, trade him for a receiver or running back dude. Shag that fungus off your team. There is never ever ever a good reason to have a starting QB sitting on your bench when he has value to others. WR's and RB's, you can never have too many. I guarantee if he has a good game this week, I would be shopping him for an A.J Green or Roddy White type player.

After all that, I like both plays. Phillips would be my starter on Monday night.

Hope that helps,
FDC
