In my opinion that was a really thrilling first round with the Phily vs. Toronto and St. Louis vs. Vancouver series' being especially well played. Second round features only one matchup of what you would call powerhouses, at least on paper. Here are my picks to start things off.

Philly over Ottawa in 6
New Jersey over Tampa in 6

Vancouver over Minnesota in 4
Dallas over Anaheim in 7

Still sticking with Philly vs. Vancouver in the finals with Philly winning.

(edit is because I accidentally mixed up the second round Eastern matchups.)

Nick, Jersey is playing Tampa, Ottawa is playing Philly;) .

Hope you're wrong about Ana:D, but most people don't even think they'll last 5, 6 games:shrug:

Good luck in round 2:cool:

I have never really liked the Ducks even being in SoCal but I think this team is quite strong. I will be very interested in this series because while Edmonton was one of those deep but unspectacular teams without a dominant first line, Anaheim is basically all about the Sykora line. Also, you probably have to give the goaltending advantage (which I've heard is important in the postseason) to the Ducks at this point.

Ottawa to beat Philly in 4 games

Devils to beat Tampa in 7 games

Minny to beat Vancouver in 6 games

Ducks to beat Dallas in 6 games

the Sens series will be a joke..........that series won't even be close......if the Sens shoot on Roman C (unlike the Leafs) this series will be a complete mismatch..........

Yeah, hard for me to be a Quacks fan, too, being a Kings fan. But I'll still root them on like I did with the Angels last yr, being a native Los Angelino:D.

Giggy definitely has to stay HOT to beat the Stars. My biggest concern is that all his career he goes thru hot and cold streaks, actually went thru one earlier this yr. He'll be brilliant for 2 weeks, then starts letting one softies after another. Hopefully the extended break won't matter much. I'm still not sold on Turco, he looked shakey at times vs the Oilers. All the pressure is on his shoulders now.

Hard to see any upsets happening in the East:shrug:

Sens in 5
Devils in 6
Quacks in 6 I don't think they'll win if there's a game 7
Nucks in 7

Picking Nucks because I think Minny will run outta gas, but boy did they play well the last 3 games, and if Manny struggles, there's Rolly to the rescue. Minny played 2 games in the Mile High City in 4 nites, and has to travel to Vancouver, so the game1 edge has to go to Vanc, IMHO.

Flyers 4-2
Devils 4-2
Canucks 4-3
Stars 4-1

don't see any surprises coming, maybe Minny, i think that
they are now at same level where Van was last year or year before that. This series coaches are my favourite coaches in NHL.

still sticking with

STARS-FLYERS final, should be a really good one

Good luck

Dallas 4-1 (look out for the Stars now that Detroit & Avs are out,
Pierre Turgeon is back, Billy G and Arnott will be back
in this series.....The City of Dallas will be buzzing this
week with Stars and Mavs doing well in their
respective playoffs....The AAC will be rockin) By the
way Dallas took the season series 3-1-1 and
dominated the Oilers in round 1 in these playoffs!

Jersey 4-1 (Defense and Experience will smother the (IMO)
weakest team left in the playoffs. Langenbrunner
and Madden are very HOT, Langenbrunner had 5 goal
2 assits while madden added 2 goals and 6 assits last
series. Take away one 5 goal game vs. Boston and
Brodeur only gives up 3 in the 5 game series. He had
2 shutouts. Stevens, Rafalski and Brodeur will give
this team all kinds of problems when trying to score. )

Philly 4-2 (Revenge time is here with Philly getting a chance to
get Ottawa back for whipping them in 5 games last
year in the first round.....where flyers only scored 2
goals total. Philly has been very tough all year
defensivley and now they have found an offense to
go with it! Ottawa looked uninspired vs. NY, but it
was NY and this is Philly. I'm still going with the flyers
who are coming off a momentum builder game 7 vs
TOR who have a coach who knows how to win in this
spot, and a team with very good value IMO at +160.)

Minny 4-3 (IMO this will be the best series of the four. Vanc is
big and strong vs. a small quick team that hasn't
made a lot of mistakes, but have capitalized on
mistakes made by the opponet. Minny playing very
inspired hockey with a high level of enthusiasm and
a great deal of confidence after coming back vs Colo.
How badly do you think they would like to meet the
Stars team that left Minny for Dallas? The great thing
about them is that they aren't even thinking about it
right now as they truely take it one game at a time.
My head says Vancouver in 6, my heart wants Minny
after watching them vs. Colorado, now add the value
of +290 and I have to bite for a small wager!)

Conference Championships

Dallas over Minny 4-2
Philly over NJ 4-3

Cup

Dallas over Philly (Hitch vs. his old team, but too much talent and depth on the stars as they are determined more then ever now that obstacles Detroit and Colorado are out of the way!)

wow........alot of people on Philly....shocking  I don't even think the series will be close...I see Ottawa sweeping them.....but hey maybe the Sens will do what the Leafs did, ya know..NOT SHOOT  I mean if the Leafs would have shot the dam puck and put somebody in front of the friggen net then things would have been different...maybe there's some force field in front of Roman C that I'm unaware of

Yes, Ottawa pretty much stinks when it comes to playoff hockey but with this sweet draw they have, I just can't see them chocking yet another time.........I really see Ottawa smoking Philly....bottom line....they shoot the dam puck.........they win with ease :)

and I agree the Minny/Vancouver will be a great Series :)

round 2

round 2

sens beats philly in 6 (philly runs out of gas after LONG toronto series)

n.j. beats t.b. in 7 (don't under estimate the lightning......but they still lose)

dallas beats ducks in 7 (dallas too much talent.....wait, weren't the red wings the same way.) ducks could win this, but i'll stick with my dallas/ottawa prediction. look at the goalies though (giguere vs. turco) giggy is the better goalie in my opinion.

wild beat 'nucks in 6

good luck guys, keep the winners coming.:D

kickserv, ya gotta get over the fact the leafs were beaten by a better team in the flyers. you rode cechmanek's ass the whole series. how did eddie do? 18 goals in 4 road games including 6 in game seven. he sucked. the leafs heart and grit kept series from going 5 games. ottawa always comes up small in playoffs. go ahead and bet on ottawa and lose more cash.

I am sure most of the flyers players would rather have Belfour on their team than chick magnet.

philly in 6..tough and tested...ottawa is rested and everything points to them ...but just have a feeling PHILLY takes this series

jersey in 7...this will be tougher than people think....NJ looked great vs the b's but bruins goaltending not in the same class as tampa....they will steal a few ....

ducks in 6...this is hoping gigure hasnt cooled off with the rest..if he has they are in trouble....

MINNY..in 6 ...they will win one in vanc ....they have two goalies they can turn to if one gets cold...that is something that no other team in the playoffs can say....and it made a world of difference in the avs series...(anh could turn to gerber....but he is not interchangeable as are roloson and gigure)
