Figured starting a new thread for bowls was the hip thing to do so I'll get with it. Gonna try to stay conservative with the # of plays, although it's very tempting to try and pick a winner every game.
YTD: 31-20 Don't do "units." It is what it is :0008
Put in a few plays today. Don't see the lines getting any better and most of the news about coaching has come and gone so, barring any random suspensions/arrests, we know what we're dealing with for each team.
Wisconsin +7.5 -145
Badgers haven't lost by more than 7 all season. Not sure who is the better team out of OSU and Stanford, but if Wisconsin can hang in physical games with a few teams on their schedule, they should be able to keep it close with Stanford. Cardinals didn't blow out any of their decent opponents this year, besides UCLA in game 1 of their series where UCLA could have been uninspired since they were rematching the next week. Also the Badgers probably got an upgrade at head coach for the game. 21-20 Stanford
Oregon State -130
First time I looked at OSU I had to question whether their resume this year was that impressive or not. But then I realized they were playing Texas. I hope Cody Vaz is starting for this game. Watched him and Mannion play a few games each and Vaz is the better QB who takes a lot better care of the ball. I think OSU's defense is just as good as others that have put the clamps on Texas's pretty pathetic offense. Texas's defense isn't what is used to be and either QB for the Beavers should be able to lead them down the field plenty of times. 31-21 Beavers
LSU -175
Clemson's offense got exposed by USCe in the last game of the season. Easily the best defense they played all year and it showed. LSU has the athletes and the speed on D to slow down that 4-some of boyd, andre, sammy and hopkins. Clemson's defense on the other hand... can't stop a leaky faucet. LSU should be able to play ball control like USCe and keep Clemson's offense off the field. 40-20 split on possession in the CU-USC game. Mettenger just needs to manage the game for an win here. And Les Miles needs to stay out of LSU's way. 24-13 LSU
Northwestern +115
Every team with a pulse beat MSU pretty handily this year. Dan Mullen is not a good coach. Don't care what anyone says about that... There is a decent amount of talent on MSU's defense, but they give up a ton of yards to spread Os. Pat Fitzgerald is a good coach and I think has done well with what he has to work with at NW. Kain Colter is a player too. He's certainly no Johnny Football, but I can see him putting up some good numbers like Manziel did against the bulldogs. 31-24 NW
Washington - Boise Under 46.5
Washington D had a few bad games this year including their season finale. However, 3 of the 4 teams that put up points on them were spread offenses. Boise is not. Both teams love to grind it out, run the ball and play defense. They aren't built for shootouts. And both of these offenses have gotten shut down by most, if not all, of the good defenses they've played. 20-14 Boise
Texas Tech - Minnesota Under 57.5
First of all I'm not really sure how the Gophers got invited to a bowl. Pretty sad if you look at their schedule. I know Tuberville bolted to Cincy, but I don't think his defense left with him. The guys he left behind at AU were fundamentally sound and knew how to play ball after he was long gone. Minnesota isn't going to put up many points in this game. Just no way around that. If Tech puts up 40+ this total could be in trouble. Gophers held a few other high scoring offenses to a reasonable number so hopefully they can do that again in this bowl. 38-10 Tech
Vandy -6.5 -122
Pretty bad draw for NCST getting the best Vandy team in a half century at a home bowl game in Nashville. I know they played early in the year and you're not supposed to use transitive properties in gambling blah blah blah. Tennessee and NCState are the same team. Vandy is a lot better than both of them. I think Dana Bible is in over his head coaching against Franklin. Rodgers and Stacy were both playing their best football the last 4-5 games of the season for Vandy and should be able to have a field day against that sad NCST D. 35-21 Dores
All for now. Looking hard at Texas A&M and South Carolina, but don't like giving more than a field goal in either of those. One of them may make the plays, but besides those, any other plays will be Team Totals or 1st Half plays
