If our dollar is continuing this pace, we will be par with the US by august!!!! :scared :00hour :142smilie 94 cents today!!!! :142smilie The US economy is so stagnant that we might even see our dollar worth more that our fellow madjackers by the end of the year!!! :canada1 My vacation to USA this summer will be cheap!!! :jump: Funny to see our american friends laughing at us 2-3 years ago when it was at about 75 cents. Watch it tomorrow, it could even go to 95 cents! :scared

Never laughed at you guys, we spent many April vacations at Niagra Falls on your side. I hope you get down to this area and see some of the things we have to offer!

The US economy is so stagnant

I didn't laugh at you then, but I laughed out loud when I read the above statement. I'm assuming that you aren't an economist.

I hope you enjoy your visit this summer.

What's up 1837? Been missing your puck input the last few months. Hopefully you'll be posting your CFL thoughts in a few weeks !!! I agree our Loonie will be at par soon, but as far as the US economy being stagnant, well I'm not so sure about that. I'm certainly not an economy analyst, but all my US stocks are doing very well. I bad thing about our dollar moving up is that the bank of Canada will be forced to raise interest rates, which in turn will slow down the real estate market here in Alberta. Which is bad for me as I'm heavily invested in the real estate out here.
Anyways it'll be alot cheaper for runs down to Vegas.
Hope to see you posting CFL

I hope you're not serious saying your economy isnt stagnant????

" In Canada and the US, GDP figures for the month of
March (and Q1) were released this morning. Again,
Canadian figures outscored expectations (+3.7%
annualized GDP growth in Q1) while US figures
came out disappointing (+0.6% GDP growth) with
the lowest growth rate since Q4 2002. The impact
was immediate on the USD/CAD, which continues to
go down through one technical support after
another.
The US Non-farm payroll and ISM manufacturing
survey are due tomorrow. Positive results might
stop the actual trend, but the opposite would lead
to a new, sharp USD depreciation."

To me it looks like stagnant...

Anyway, I'm really doing my part to help you out guys as i'm buying US products to fill the basement of my new home (Home theater equipement) Got the speakers set and dvd player and the plasma and the receiver is coming by the end of august! :00hour

Palm Beach here i come! :shade:

Chasing the Next Dime...
Hey 1837, how are things? Did you move yet. If so I hope it is going well in La Belle Ville. I was there earlier on in the week on business. Next time I am through I will have to buy you a beer. I forgot how many working girls there are at the Ritz. I think you could have caught something just walking through the lobby!!! haha.

I did cheat while I was there with my little slice of heaven a la Monsieur Schwartz!!

DSCN0907.jpg

Funny story I finally cashed out some of my winnings out of 5dimes for the family summer trip. So I walk into the bank and ask the exchange rate for US to Cdn. They told me it was 1.05!!!!! I was shocked for a second. I was hoping to make a few extra bucks on the exchange but was not the case!!! Had to laugh.

Looking forward to your picks again once the little lady lets you on the computer again!!

Hope all is well!!

I really wish we would just annex your country already to shut you folks up about shit like this. Maybe this would spark our economy. I will write Mr. Bush a note to look into this as he makes his way out of office.

Face it we will always be your big brother protecting your horse riding miltary ass.

PS. Your post really makes you come off like an asshole that has a serious inferority complex.

welp, from another cdn perspective.....sucks real bad....real bad!

all checks are US funds and now winning % needs to go up....

wake up every morning checking the rate.....and it SUCKS!

==

When the dollar has a big move in either direction, some of the effects are instantly obvious.

When it gains ground against the U.S. dollar, for example, Canadian exporters lose ground because their products become more expensive for U.S. buyers. It's simply harder to compete.

Yes......Canadian visitors to the U.S. are finding that their money goes much further these days.

But conversely, U.S. visitors to Canada are finding that their money is buying less than it used to. In early 2006, Statistics Canada reported the number of same-day cross-border vehicle trips made by Americans to Canada fell to their lowest level on record.

not flipping good for border cities!!

wake up!, extremes are not good.
