Pretty sure this is how pro level football is to be played.
Every one else is falling behind.

Manning is a brilliant regular season qb with an enormous resource of weapons. Hopefully, he doesn't choke in the postseason, where he has been a pedestrian qb to this point.

Can we just stop railing on the guy already? Amazing how people still find faults with great things. He has the tenth best post-season quarterback rating in history! TENTH. Oh yea, above players like:
Tom Brady
Troy Aikman
Steve Young
Dan Marino
John Elway
Are those guys pedestrian too? While quarterbacking is by far the most important position on the field, it takes a lot more than that to win!
I think Peyton is probably the furthest thing from "pedestrian" that the league has ever seen.
Exactly. However, you may be wasting your time, HH. People get it into their heads that a player is bad in crunch time, and they won't change their minds unless the player beats them over their heads with his brilliance.
I am sure that even if Peyton wins the Super Bowl this year, there will still be people saying that he is a poor postseason player. That despite the fact he will be 2/3 in Super Bowl's if he wins this year.
No offense to Bronco fans, but his mid-80s passer rating and 9-11 record in the post season seem pedestrian to me. He is a New Orleanian, so I find myself rooting for him to win (yesterday included!), unless he is facing the Saints. Once he picks it up in the post season, I will eagerly promote him as the stud that Denver and Indy fans know him as today :toast:
I'm not taking offense as a Broncos fan, but I just think that we should clear up the actual facts and statistic vs. fan/media perception. So he lost four playoff games in cold weather. Is that really a good indication of his ability to play in cold weather, or could it be that four games is not a big enough sample size?
Consider Peyton's career stats:
Career stats in games under 40 degrees:
400-603 (66.3% completion rate), 4777 yards, 35 TDS, 19 INT (96.6 QB rating)
Last six seasons stats in games under 40 degrees:
273-385 (70.9% completion rate), for 3356 yards, 28 TDS, 14 INT (106.6 QB rating)
Those are pretty solid numbers. I'm a fan of greatness. I love Drew Brees, I love Kobe Bryant, I love anyone who is just freakin' great. I don't try to pick apart their greatness - well, Kobe did turn the ball over once in a big playoff game, so he must not be clutch, or whatever, which is just what I feel like people on here are trying to do. Reaching. The guy is great, like Hash says - can't we just enjoy what we are seeing?
History.
Cheers
Personally, I feel that Payton only reaching 2 Super Bowls to this point in his career is a strike against him. His teams in Indy were LOADED, or at least that is my perception, which we have already discussed can be difficult to overcome.
By the way, Cie - at this point in the season, I think the Saints look like the better TEAM than Denver, but... what Peyton is doing offensively is still really amazing. Now, their defense...
