Toilet trouble

I have 2. Both will not flush. Neither has had anything but liquid waste and minimal toilet paper since yesterday, and after solid waste yesterday, they both flushed. Nobody was even at the house all last night.

Since both will not flush, does that mean I might possibly have some huge problem outside the house? The house is 7 years old, and there are no large trees. I'm assuming I have a septic tank?

I have plunged without success.

Suggestions before I call a plumber on a weekend :facepalm:

Never, but nobody does that around here? They r supposed to not need that.

We have out tank emptied every 5-7 years......Never heard of one that doesn't need to be emptied......:shrug:

City water.

Both make the flushing sound, fill the bowl with water, then stop when the water gets too high. They then quickly drain after about 5 minutes. :shrug:

City water then I'm guessing you have sewer too.

Sounds like something is blocking the line going out or a bird made a nest in the vent pipe (unlikely).

Plunge the piss out of the toilet nearest the exit pipe.

Wait a while and flush. might just be a wad of paper (hopefully)

I really don't think that's it. Septic tanks here aren't even marked. I've seen guys with divining rods trying to find them before :mj07:

It takes finding them and then a backhoe bc they are buried. Maybe newer houses are different. :shrug:

if it`s blocked i would think that the water would overflow when flushed......

no trees to get into the line?.....

let me get this straight now. both toilets wont flush properly


sounds like a main drain problem blockage.


Plumber will take a snake devise with a camera and stick it down the pipe . Sometimes it unblocks it other times not. 400 bucks

worst case they dig up driveway with a back hoe for about 400 ft and replace the blocked pipe. 2-3 k
