S. Federov talking to reporter after watching his first baseball game: (translator)

"They get paid for this?"
"They shower after this?"

couldn't have said it better myself..........baseball is so friggen boring to watch, the "athletes" (if you want to call them that) are overpaid (gee by just a little) and players never stay on the same team.

I for the life of me will never understand why someone would watch this sport.....it just plain sucks ass.

although it is sad that Gretzky wasn't allowed to skate down the right wing with a nice wad of chewing tobacco in his mouth....

it has nothing to do with the whole overall sport it is the number 1 single hardest feet to do and trust me, wells might not be a over all athlete but not many people can master pitching and put the ball where you want anytime, or throw a ball at 90+ i have a gun stalker and i could line up every single person that is a member on this site and i would bet not one would reach 88 what a scout looks for with movement. some of you people really crack me up when it comes to sports, watching/al budy's are a dime a dozen but i have seen and been told of many in my years of coaching yes this kid throws 90 andi put the gun on him which i don't even need i can tell you with in 3 mph's how hard a pitch is coming in and will be right almost everytime, there is not 1 person here that can hit 88 and have good movement with 3 pitches if so email me and i will work you out and if true i will get you a try out or on a independent team with no trouble at all, and baseball you look for a 5 tool player which very few are need at least 3.5 to even get a shot. done making a csae for something i don't have to because like i said very few have been at a top d1 program and beyond have a few guys I know on here that talk back and forth who played skeeter1 cards and astros as wll as a few d1 college players 4 i coached against and 2 i played with in the cape and valley. Like i said it is the single toughest feet and yes baseball players are some of the best athletes out there once again not cause i played but just the over all cordanation it takes to play the game. hell one of the easier things to do in the sport most people would screw up 6-10 times catching a fly ball that is up the shaft and if i put you in the circle like a catcher and hit the ball like in drills up it would be 2.5 out of 10 caught with at least 4 times guys falling backwards then on their ass, the ball moves all over the place in the air, forget putting you an the hot corner and drilling ground balls it would be ugly.

i am done ar it is all yours dealing with people who have not spent much time on the field.

Number 4: You hate the Yankees.
***False. The Lakers are clearly on par with Yanks as a "root against" team.

youre right on with the other 9.
but way off on #4

yanks are the worlds greatest "root against" team, and its not even remotely close in my opinion

just havin fun with ya. but definitely agree with the writers opinion on #4

Fletcher, this just a discussion, so calm down and be reasonable . I totally respect your opinion and stance on this issue. But, please take your gun and measure the speed (of say a top middleweight champion or contender) of a left hook trevelling no more than two feet, not sixty feet, six inches, and I will guarantee that it travels faster than any baseball ever thrown. Yet great boxers either block, or duck this blow. Far tougher and quicker reaction in my opinion.

Interesting discussion, nevertheless.

I am calm just does not sound that way, because it is typed, just trying to show it is only 1 skill not the over all game anyone who has played any sport above hs has skills and the higher up you go the more you have, or others who have gone pro with out college lot of tennis people and boxing do this, not great at typing points so very calm not to worry, like i said i think people are missing the point of the statement, and it will always be disagreed with but that is the fun of it.:)

***Bullsh*t. Try scoring a goal in the NHL and getting checked into the boards. Or having a 320 pound defensive lineman chasing you. I supppose that hitting a fastball is "difficult," but an average man off the street could make contact, while that same man off the street woudl stand no chance of completing a pass in the NFL or scoring a goal in the NHL.

Got to agree with fletcher on this one. It has been reported and
stated many times that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do. Not just making contact. That don't count. You got to put it in play for a hit. Its impossible for the average person at the major league level.

I believe I could complete a pass in the NFL eventually. And I think I could score a goal in the NHL under the right conditions. But getting a hit in major leagues , forget about it.

Here is a scenario I have always thought about. Lets say that
you take a top flight WR or kick or punt returner.

You stand on the 50 yard line. He starts at the goal line carrying the pigskin.

You have to put up 1,000 bucks. The NFL puts up 100,000 dollars.
All you have to do to win the cash is get a hand on the guy before he gets to the other goal line.

I asked this of a NFL player one time and he told me one on one
there is no way in hell you could lay a hand on him.

scott-atlanta quote:"I think I could score a goal in the NHL under the right conditions."

only if there is no goalie!!(jk)

i agree with fletcher. i think some are missing the point. we are only referring to the singular action of hitting a baseball.

now, boxing is a tough sport to participate in. years ago, my friends & i put on a boxing event with 2 of my friends boxing each other. these 2 friends were in top shape because we were all playing sandlot football. after 3 rounds of constantly moving their feet & hands, one friend could barely stand & the other was laying near the sewer in the street throwing up his guts.it was some site.(lol)
