have to agree with Jax number 1......they have played by far the toughest schedule with wins over Seattle Cinn and Pitt.....and losses to Indy and Denver......the Jets was their only game against a non winning team

This is a cool thread.

I will give my top ten but before I do I have a question. Of course I am a Steeler fan so I was a little surprised to see that some people dont have them on their top ten and even more surprised to see how many people have San Diego ahead of them. I know the NFL is week to week and anything can happen but I dont see the infatuation with San Diego, is it the powder blue uni's? Pitt went to San Diego, on Monday Night, and won. I know the score was close and it came down to a last minute field goal but the Steelers won. How is SD better?
I would like your input, just curious and stirring up conversation.

My top 10
1. Indy (for now)
2. Pitt (With Ben of course)
3. Denver (Could be 1 or 2)
4. SD
5. Philly (have a lot of talent)
6. JAX
7. Cincy
8. NE (they have Brady and still the Champs)
9. Atlanta
10. TB (if healthy QB)

Super Bowl champs will be from the AFC either way you look at it.
Take the Steelers this week, Ben is suppose to play. They will be fired up and focused, Cowher apologized to the team yesterday and said it was one of his worst coached games he had...I agree. Plus, I'm making the trip with a bunch of friends for the game in Cincy. Should be atleast 10-15k Steeler fans there.

GL to everyone!

I was thinking the same thing, the Chargers really don't "do it" for me, but hey, to each their own. Defence is very important to me when I consider a team's chances, and I don't think SD has a whole lot going for it on that side of the ball.

As for the league being week to week...so very true. Ask this same question next week and people would reply completely differently. Heck, day to day might even be more like it. Already I am questioning my own list. I'm not sure what I was thinking yesterday putting TB at #3. Lots of people don't even have them in their Top 10. After one day, with no games played since I first posted my list, I am requesting permission to alter my list and slide TB down about 5 spots.

Regarding the RPI ratings above...the RPI is flawed in my opinion. And most college football fans would agree that it produces some pretty bogus results.

Sure, Jax is good, but to say they are #1....no way. They played a good game - defensively at least - but still lost to Indy (who are ranked #4) by a touchdown. So how do they rank 3 spots ahead of the only undefeated team, which already beat them head-to-head?? Jax also got hammered at home by the #2 team on this list (Denver). So it would seem to me they've shown they are not quite as good as those two teams, and shouldn't be ranked ahead of them.

One disadvantage of this system...the lone undefeated team (Indy) never gets to play against itself! Every team that plays against Indy, gets the benefit of having a team with a 1.000 winning % in their Opponents Win %. Indy on the other hand will never have a team with a 1.000 Win % in it's Opponent's list.

How could anyone but Houston possibly be #32? Not just because they are the lone winless team...but I mean, man, they are by far the worst team out there.

Minnesota is better than 11 teams right now? That is really hard to believe. They have scored more than 13 pts just once this year...and allowed fewer than 24 only once as well....ugh....

I think Jax is #1 because they are 4/2 against the toughest schedule played in the league.......those other ones I don't know how they come up with that.....its the numbers used in the formula and strength of schedule I guess.......don't think I will be using this as a betting tool though......the RPI dogs were only 1/3 last week
