Can someone explain if this is a common rule with books?

GOLF - Top 5 and Top 3 finishers
In case of a tie ONLY the top 3 or the 5 players listed on the official website leader board will get paid. The Tie breaker rule used by those sites will be applied so that ONLY 5 or 3 players are paid as winners of this event.

I had Keegan Bradley as a top 5 this past week. in advance thank you!

An EW (each-way) bet is a combination of two bets: one on the player to win and an equal stake on the player to finish in the top-5 (typically at 1/4 the win odds).

For example, a $10 EW bet on Rory to win at +500 would be:

$10 on Rory to win at +500
$10 on Rory to finish in the top-5 at +125.

No, that's wrong.
It gets paid out like a horse race. Ties get their stake plus a percentage of the win pool.
I think.

Essentially, yes. There is a very clear explanation with examples on the 5Dimes rules page. I would post the screenshot but can't seem to get it to work on my iPhone.
