DOC,
Also saw a clip of a celebration in Vancouver on Commercial Drive which is the Italian "district" in Vancouver. I'm certain there are celelbrations in Edmonton as well which has a decent sized Italian popiulation.
Locally, being in Windsor, Ontario (pop. 215,000), the celebration is not the scale of these larger cities, however VIA ITALIA (a.k.a Erie St.) has been closed down following every victory in the World Cup. I went following the Germany victory and it was pretty crazy. Approx. 30,000 Windsorites are of Italian descent. Throw in other nations which seem to support Italy (Lebanese, Assyrian, etc.) and there is a big fan base for the Italian on the World Cup. I have heard they are closing down the street (8 blocks) on Sunday and also heard that there will be big video screens outside setup for people to watch.
