Great day Hawkeye. That damn Pitt under still angers me. Work through your offense with time on the clock, don't stand there and heave a three as time runs out.

How about those Hawks? Yesterday may have been the worst game I have ever watched, it was painful. I've heard that Angle, Bohall, Palmer, and possibly Petersen and Freeman are not coming back next year. That only leaves Cole, Kelly and Tate returning.

Where did you hear that, Hawki?

Don't know why they wouldn't want to stick around and play for a REAL coach, unlike the moron that recruited them. And its not if any of those players--except maybe Freeman and Peterson-- are even D-1 talent in the 1st place.
While the next couple of basketball seasons will be tough ones, Lickliter is the real deal and Iowa should be fine in hoops soon--unlike the disaster that is the football team....

My post was not intended to rip on Lickliter, he is a great coach and will get the ship righted. Freeman and Petersen have been completely uncoachable this year, especially Freeman. His loyalties rest with Alford, enough said. I could tell you numerous stories of the BS Lickliter has had to deal with regarding the "Alford" players remaining on the team. He's going to clean house and start over. This is coming from someone inside the program.

I know you weren't bashing Lickliter; I was just wondering where you had heard about all the players you mentioned leaving.
I'm sure Lickliter would have sat Freeman if he had any alternatives--a blind man could have seen how uncoachable Freeman was this season.
hear anything about any other walk-ons other than John Lickliter? get some coachable kids that want to play within the system and the team is already better than it is at this point.
Seth Gorney a Big-10 player? Enough said...

Yeah, I just feel bad for Lickliter. I haven't heard anything about the walk-ons. Don't get me wrong, it is not a done deal with Freeman or Petersen, but my source says that he would be surprised if Freeman is back and it is possible that Petersen may not come back.

Just wanted to add a few things:

The collapse of the football program saddens me. From 2002-2005, I (and a lot of others, I am sure) won a ton of money on the Hawks, especially when playing at Kinnick. I am fickle and teams that win me money take predence in my heart, so this Born Wolverine and College Educated Hoosier, turned coat a little bit and Iowa became my "favorite" football team.

And, basketball.....I am sure both of you grinned a little when catching the scores from out west last night. New Mexico losing to Utah. Looks like another Alford team will fall short of the NCAAs. Still cant believe half of my Hoosier brethern want him to be the coach. Somehow, they feel he can win and run a clean program. Not sure where their evidence is coming from, and I am sure you guys can attest to that.
