I'm curious about something.

How is is that LSU PG Bo Spencer, a 3 year starter, was dismissed from LSU for not keeping up with his academic obligations, yet is able to transfer to Nebraska, where he'll sit out a year and play his senior campaign.

Does this mean that the Big XII have looser academic requirements than the SEC, or does Nebraska have looser academic requirements than LSU?

I ask because I would have thought all major conferences would have the same restrictions against players who fall behind academically.

By chance, does anyone know about this?

I am glad that Bo gets a chance to play his senior year. Actually, I would have preferred for him to sit out this year with LSU and play with us next season.

It's governed by the NCAA on transfers of student athletes. Not by the conference. The schools can also have clauses with student athletes that prevent them from transferring to certain schools.

The old rule was that if you transferred from one D-1 school to another you'd have to give up a year of eligibility. So most athletes who transferred went the super awesome champion division, formerly known as D-2 so they wouldn't have to sit out. They could then transfer to any D-1 school after a year.

The new rule, I believe, is that now they can transfer D-1 to D-1 without penalty as long as it is not to a school within the same conference.
