Cleveland will give the #2 pick and the 20th in first round to move up to # 1!!!!!!!
Jacksonville will have that pick.........They have the worst team.....
the teddy bridgewater sweepstakes...
Id hope for their benefit that there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. Just about every team in the league would ship a 1st rounder for Richardson. He's played one season, hurt, on a terrible team, and still produced.
Why would you not shop a guy who went 3rd overall and is at the beginning of his prime. And if he was shopped, why was it kept so quiet?
The Seahawks traded a 1st round pick for friggin Percy Harvin who has known health issues.
The whole thing just seems completely weird.
I have to disagree Nobody would give a first rounder for Richardson.
Name the last RB that was traded for a first round pick.
The Browns were going nowhere with him so the new staff wants to build it their own way so they got the best they could for an injury prone rb who has already had two surgeries on his legs, broken ribs, injured calf, and shoulder issues.
They want a franchise qb and this move will give them power if need be to package picks to move up to get one and if not they still can use the pick on a player that will fit their need better than Trich
i totally see this from both perspectives...
cleve now has 2 -1's, a 2, 2- 3's and 2 -4's next year...
they already have a solid, young defense....they can bring in quite a few talented guys to fill their qb/rb and wide receiver holes....
it takes maney to sign all that new, high level talent and it`s entirely possible that richardson would have gone free agent before they started turning the corner...
they free`d up some big money and are set to turn the offense around via next season`s draft....
if richardson isn`t chronically injured and a complainer( as some browns boards have indicated),then being with luck and the rest of that offense will help him immediately....
could turn out to be a smart move all the way around....we won`t know about the browns for awhile, but,i`d love to have that kind of flexibility going into the 2014 draft....
But they already had all those picks, it's just the 2nd 1st round pick we are talking about. They basically trade TRich for the RB they are going to draft in the first round. I don't see the money argument either since his salaries will be $1.321 million in 2013, $2.252 million in 2014, and $3.184 million in 2015.
I do see and have read he about potential personality issues and I believe it was the coach who said he was "not a fit for the Browns offense"
he ran for 950 yards last year at roughly 3.5 ypc....
apparently cleveland thought he wasn`t worth the money...f

I had someone say this to me yesterday and I used the analogy of putting Derek Jeter on the Royals or Pirates for his nearly 20 year career. My point you would never now DJ exisited. But instead he plays his career with an All Star team around him and gets pitches to hit. The Brwons suck, so now TR gets to play an easier division from against the run persepective and teams cant stack the line with Luck playing QB. Homerun for Colts, possibly many years to come with a stud QB and RB to build around.
I agree with Cleveland's assessment, but I think you are wrong on Richardson. I'd say most if not all would trade a 1st round pick for a proven last year's 3rd overall pick. After all, what percentage of 1st rounders pan out?
The only reason I see what they are doing is they want to trade up for a qb. I thought they were gonna surprise some people this year, not anymore, I think they have the 2-3 pick locked in.
So basically they traded TRich to suck more, because he is a proven first rounder at $1.321 million.

and imo, could be a homerun for the browns...going nowhere this year..and by some reports, not crazy about richardson`s attitude....
they dump some of the salary of a player that the front office and fans weren`t particularly enamored with...have a great salary cap situation shaping up for next year with oodles of draft choices to restock that offense(already a solid defense)......
not many teams win consistently with a great running back and a shitty qb...those days appear to be over(witness minny...and for the record,i doubt that richardson becomes a peterson)...but,teams with a really solid qb and a pedestrian ground game can and do win(we see it year in and year out..indy being the last and most obvious example)....
as i said,i think the browns see this as an opportunity to go all in next year...purge who they want purged and to start over...
i like the move all the way around...the problem is the fact that the "post ravens move/new browns" front office couldn`t get laid in a brothel with a fistfull of $100 bills...they could well f-ck this up also,,,,
still, they are set up to succeed if they play their cards right...
i like the move for both teams...
Again, they only gained about 2.62 million in cap space as the signing bonus that they already paid still goes against the Browns salary cap. They didn't free up any significant room until 2015.
anybody know if richardson is playing this week for the colts?
