The Ohio State has suspended Tressel 2 games, fined $250,000 for violating NCAA rules,

he has to attend compliance seminar & make public apology.

THE NCAA still must complete investigation, could expand or add punishment

AD Gene Smith says the review is ongoing,

Tressel states:

"stiuation going on that was larger than anything, my focus was to not interfer with the federal investigation":scared

Seems like the Akiem Hicks is a mirror situation except instead of other people paying the players, it was the coaches and a coach that was aware of the violation long ahead of it. Another difference is the level of punishment.

It's all the same. Everyone cheats the same way. . . and the more you say it, the more you believe it.

I hear ya. Glad to know that hicks was removed from team activities immediately. Anyway, Tress should know better. If you are gonna cheat, at least do it right and set up an asst or booster as the fall guy:0074

unreal, two games. Need to post the clips of him acting like the strong disciplinarian saying that Pryor, et al wouldn?t have travelled to the Bowl game if they hadn?t given them his word they would be back for their senior season.

NCAA still has the ability to hand down a worthy punishment, but their past handling of football violations would not give any indication they will step up to the plate.

The Big Ten or the NCAA needs to step in and make this more harsher. He should be suspended at least the same amount as his players or in this case even more.

I wonder if anyone wants to bail now from this program.

Wow, I just read the emails. With this type of concrete evidence, it would certainly appear that tOSU will get hit hard.

If they don't suspend him for at least the year I will wonder what the hell is going on. To suspend Dez Bryant for the year for telling the NCAA he didn't go to Deon Sanders house to hang out and eat and then not suspend Tress for at least that would be very shady. They would not have been in a BCS bowl without those kids and he knew it.

Just for the record, I could give a crap about what he didn't tell people but fair is fair and if you're going to come down on a player then you should come down on a coach.

I'm sick of coaches f'ing over schools and then leaving for greener pastures while the school gets screwed.

AGREED !

SKIMMED the emails late last night and went to bed, sorta think the mortor rounds fired by THE OHIO State U as preliminary self discipline with be small compared to the HEAVY artillary strikeforce the NCAA is almost sure to fire onto the Shoe.

LOCAL news released the name of the attorney involved that sent the emails:

ID of the attorney has been released by WTVN. Chris Cicero, a former walk-on Earle Bruce

ongoing to say the least

I am very dissappointed as a fan and the Federal investigation could not disclose angle is not holding water

but quite possibly the attorney should not have disclosed this to Tressel

Wish I could take credit for this comment but this is a D-1 Head Coach commenting in an ESPN Insider story with Bruce Feldman:

After the Tuesday night news conference at Ohio State, I called the coach back to get his take on what everything that was revealed.

Coach: It totally looked like spin control. I've always like Tressel, but that wasn't good for him, or for Ohio State or for college football. What are we doing in college athletics now? How can we talk about accountability after this? Look at the hypocrisy of it: Dez Bryant is found to have lied to the NCAA and loses his eligibility for the rest of his career. A.J. Green sells his jersey and gets four games. Jim Tressel lies and plays these guys for a whole season to get into a BCS bowl and Ohio State only wants to suspend him for two games against MAC teams? Is college football out of control? Yes, I think it is. I mean, if all of these things are being caught, can you imagine what else is going on?
